Christmas Eve Hole in One
By David C On 8 January 2012
On a cool Saturday morning, the day before Christmas, around 6:20 AM I set out to Diamond Hill Golf Club to play a round of golf with other members of the Diamond Hill Men's Association. I teed off around 7:20 AM so around 9:00 AM we approached the number 6 hole, a Par 3. The sun had come out, the temperature was rising and we were all warming up. One golfer in the group had hit and made some comment about the wind direction as I readied to teed off. My tendency is to draw the ball so I aligned right of the flag and proceeded to swing firmly through the ball. The ball drew towards the flag and landed softly on the first tier of the green. The hole was cut close to the edge of the second tier. I watched intently as the ball rolled gently toward the hole. I heard the sound of a faint hit on the stick, then the ball disappeared. I dropped the club, raised both arms and let out a multitude of screams. My playing partners, Chris, Butch and T. J. joined in the hollering as other members of the DHMA who were on the course became aware of the hole in one. Needless to say, the next 12 holes were most enjoyable. I know I will savor that moment for quite some time.
