Divine Ace

As a pastor I received a generous gift last October from my congregation for Pastor Appreciation Month. They gave me a two day/one night stay at Saddle Creek Resort in Copperopolis, California. My brother flew out from Virginia to join me for this golf outing. We were there during the worst week of weather we've had in years! Storms, rain, hail, thunder, lightening, gale force winds, you name it, it was a mess! Our plans were to play 72 holes in those two days. We had invited a few friends to join us, but after all the inclimate weather, they'd had enough. The last of them left after the tenth hole on the final round. My brother and I, both former Marines, were determined to finish the last round. As we rolled up to the par 3 #14 hole, we were treated to a flock of wild turkeys (10 hens and two toms). They were traipsing across the tee box so we grabbed our cell phones and began taking pictures. My brother, John, was still fooling with his phone when I teed up. We were shooting from the white tees, which was 185 yards. I used a 3 iron, hitting a Titleist ProV1x. I pured the shot, watching it land on the front of the green. Due to fading light and stormy clouds, it was hard to see what happened. We arrived at the green expecting to see both balls in play. John's shot was about five yards short of the green, but mine was nowhere to be seen. I figured I had hit it too hard and would find it in the bunker in the back of the green. I walked over to the bunker with sand wedge in hand fully expecting to make the shot. When I didn't see the ball, I knew it had to be in the cup. I walked to the flag and glanced in, and Voila! there it sat! The ball mark was about 18 inches in front of the cup. This was my first hole-in-one! Praise the Lord!
