I am 62 years old and have been playing golf since I was 12 years old. I have been ever so close to holing out a shot on a par 3 so many times but it never happened. I was beginning to think it would never happen. I am retired and play 2-3 times a week so I give myself plenty of opportunities. I was playing in a fund raiser event called RSM for students at Coastal Carolina University and each par 3 had a prize for a Hole in One.
This particular hole had a set of Irons as the prize. I hit second and the first guy went long with an 8 iron to a pin 136 yards away. I am a club longer than him so I had a 9 iron in hand and my playing partner said that I should go to the PW. Well, I hit it a little thin as I know I have to get all of it to get it there and I hit the front of the green and we watch it roll towards the pin and all of a sudden we see the ball disappear!!! There were student observers on the side of the green to verify if anyone got a Hole in One and they start jumping up and down. I lose it and start hooting and hollering and smacking hands with my playing partners and Boy, was I excited!!! My first Hole in One and I win a set of irons as well and my team takes 2nd place in the tourney. What a day, and It Finally Happened!!!
PS-My next drive I almost hit a house as my heart was a racing!!!
