Having played since I was very young I have never scored an ace. At 53 I have had some great puts or chip ins etc but never a hole in one.
On this day I had gone back to my older clubs (Hogan Apex Pro) as I have changed many things in my swing mechanics and was thinking going back to a more blade like club would feel better.
I struggled through the day but was striking the ball fairly well just somewhat inconsistently due to my new swing.
16 is a fairly short 120yrd hole but is all over water with a bunker protecting the left front. I always tend to be short or in that bunker so on this day I clubbed up to a 9 iron. The pin was middle green and just on the right edge of the sand. I took a full swing and made great contact and as the wind held it up a bit my ball just covered the bunker and landed about 3 feet from the pin landing softly and releasing to the flag.
