Started playing in 1987. Never had a hole in one - the closest was about 7 years ago when I pitched two inches from the pin and it ended up 2 inches from the hole ! Playing the winter greens at Inverurie- my home club - with my wife on a cold winters day I achieved my first one at the 4th which measured 130 yards. It was a bittersweet experience- first ever BUT not in a competition NOR on a summer course. However I've come to realise that it was still a holed out tee shot - not that common an achievement
