12th Hole Salgados - 115 yard hole. There is someone sitting at the tee offering the chance to win an all expenses paid trip to the Ryder Cup worth £4,000 for getting a hole in one. Having never been close to one before I decide to save my money. I go with my 54 degree wedge and let it fly. It carries safely over the water and past the pin. One bounce, bite and spin (I never get spin!!) and starts to trickle back down the green towards the hole. Time stood still as the ball reached the hole and dropped. Dumbfounded silence on the tee as the realization of what could have been sets in. I have spent the last few days trying to convince myself I wouldn't have made one if I had entered. Bittersweet, buy hey, a good story to tell the grandkids one day..
