Disappointing Hole In One?

Is there such a thing? I'd always imagined getting a hole in one. Hitting a medium iron into a green, watching it approach the hole with the anticipation of it dropping in it, then the joy of watching the little white ball disappear. However didn't quite happen like that. I was visiting Chelmsford golf course for the day and arrived at the 4th hole. A short 128y uphill par 3, with a bunker guarding the front. I hit Pitching Wedge that looked like it would be a bit long. There was no movement from the flag, just another missed green? My playing partners played up and we set off. Once at the top of the hill there was a ball 'missing' so we looked for mine over the back of the green, no sign of it. Then the 'perhaps it's in the hole' joke was made, I walked over and peered in, there it was. A few fist pumps and high fives later, the ball was put into the bag. It is now framed and sits on a shelf in the dining room. Would I have liked to have hit a sweet 5 iron, yes. Would I have liked to see the ball approach the hole and drop in yes. Am I really happy that on that day a PW dropped in for a hole in one, even though I didn't see it. definitely. The hole in one took place a while ago but as I'm quite new to TT I thought I'd share the story.
