Hole in One

I am a glorious 57 years-old now but got my hole-in-one when I was about 14 and starting to learn the sport. How was I to know that was to be the peak of my golfing career. I was playing with my father, Willie, at Pickeridge Golf Club outside Taunton, Somerset. One of my first games in a sport he loved. He handed me an 8 iron on a par three and told me to just whack it. I did and it flew down the middle of the fairway. I wish I could hit it that straight now. When we got to the green we couldn't find the ball at first until we discovered it in the hole !! A year or so later I led a tournament when we went on holiday to a seaside hotel (can't remember where) but was pipped by the very last group that came home. Still, I won two bottles of champagne - at just 15. Even the bubbly didn't feel as good as my Hole-In-One Day.
