Unfortunately my hole in one in competition came in 1997 when we didn't have the luxury of smart phones etc. Although 1997 was a good year for me as I had a hole in one earlier in the year, although not in competition This one though was in competition and was in our clubs scratch cup. Playing the 14th hole - roughly 160yds I remember hitting a 7 iron which landed slightly to the right of the hole. It spun quickly to the left and hit the cup, disappearing down the cup. Funny thing was I remember at the time I was worried as being a student I couldn't afford to buy drinks in the club - we'd no insurance back then - but luckily it turned out ok. Never had a hole in one since but glad to say I'm part of the club
