I have been playing golf -- at a petty high level -- for 45 years and had never gotten a hole-in-one -- until Oct. 4 on of all days -- my 57th birthday. It occurred at media day at Pinehurst Resort's new short course called The Cradle. Hole-in-one came on the 4th hole, 120 yards with a pitching wedge. Playing partners were Pinehurst Resort Head Pro Ben Bridgers, Tron Carter and John Turner. Received a signed flag from course architect Gil Hanse, who was present to celebrate with me.
