Lee Martin....FINALLY!

Lee Martin....FINALLY!

30/03/19 - Allerton Manor Golf Club, Hole 8 124yards A lovely early spring day, blue sky, good company, the scene is set. Playing partners for the day are my life long friend and adversary Richard Scotland and my good friend Scott Gavin. LM "Changing my ball for this one gents, Titleist 4, OK?" SG "Do think that gonna help?" LM "Hope so" Usual banter followed by the usual question of Rich RS "What you gonna be using?" LM "A golf club, why?" RS "Come on your gonna hit a 9 arn't you?" LM "Nope, I'll fly the green with a 9, if I catch a PW sweet i'll land just short of the flag and hopefully run up" RS "You sure?" LM "Hope so, yeah" SG "Fly the green with a 9 ha, I'm thinking 8" LM "You will take out the gallery at the back of the green with an 8" Now the 8th green is situated just before the halfway house refreshment stop, so there where plenty of eager eyes watching and waiting for you to land short and run all the way back down the valley to the bottom. Hit it clean, just hit clean, you can easily reach was the thought going through my head....Wooshhh.....Holding the follow through, the thought was, God that felt good and looks good, just be the right length. RS "That's right at it" Touch down and one hop and.........GONE! LM "Did that?...Has that?....it has! RS "it sure has, GET IN THE HOLE" went the shout, both Rich and Scott are already cheering. My arms go in the air and the waiting gallery start to clap and a few cheers go up, "Well done" came the shouts from the back of the green 30 Years of trying and FINALLY the EUREKA moment, my fIrst HOLE IN ONE. The only shame is that I only got to hit the ball once as it is now taken pride of place along with the attached picture and is mounted in my house :-) Thanks Titleist, the memory will live forever
