On the 21st August 2018, I played a round of golf with my Cousin at Brickendon Grange (my home course). I was having a steady round but was getting sloppy towards the end of the round. We played late afternoon and both felt tired from the walk round. As we stood on the 18th hole, par 3 (178 yards), we both sighed with slight relief that we would soon be tasting a fine pint on the 19th. I pulled my 6 Iron out the bag, had a single practice swing and addressed the ball... licking my lips. An easy swing and the ball flew out the centre of the club face, up the hill and towards the flag. My cousin Charles called it straight away, 'thats going in, surely that's going in'. Unfortunately due to the hole being up hill, we was un able to see the base of the flag from the tee. I walked up the fairway imagining it being in the hole, celebrating and thanking the crowd (not that there was one) but at the same time telling myself it would be too good to be true. I stepped onto the green and could not see my ball, surely it must be long and over the back? As i walked towards the back of the green, i peered into the hole... There was my ball!! My first and so far only hole in one!!
