Thorn Tree Hole in One
By NJones On 12 August 2018
With only days to go to the 147th Open at Carnoustie I thought I would get in some practice on the Ashludie Course at Monifieth Links Golf Club on Monday 16th July 2018. It was just a shame I would not actually be playing in The Open!
At the 6th hole, the Thorn Tree, my Garmin indicated a 135yard down wind shot. I used my 52deg Cleveland wedge, and launch my cally Chrome Soft X ball into the air. The ball pitched on the left front side of the green and kicked off the downslope, rolling across the green towards the flag, and dropped in.
Initially I couldn’t believe it, thinking it must have stopped behind the flag, but the fourball group on the 7th tee started to applaud and say it had gone in. It was high fives and a hug with my wife, with whom I was playing, and then the walk to the green with a huge smile on my face.
Twenty years of serious golfing and finally a hole in one. Amazing.
