Walton Heath

I was playing on my own at Walton Heath (new course) on Sunday (14/6/20). I got to the par 3 6th hole. It’s 170 yards from the white tees and plays every inch of that with big imposing bunkers guarding the front of the green. Playing into a slight breeze I took six iron knowing that I could make a good confident swing. Struck it perfectly and could see it was on line but couldn’t see the bottom of the flag because of the bunkers guarding the front. As I walked around I could see more of the green but couldn’t see any sign of my ball. It was at that point that the two ball behind me came running over very excitedly to tell me that they saw it take one bounce, check and then roll in like a putt. The 3 of us stood there for a bit and then off we went to finish off our rounds. A humbling and very special moment indeed!
