A Lim Kim Wins the LPGA Season Opener in Her First Start With New 2025 Pro V1 Golf Ball

In her first start gaming her NEW 2025 Pro V1 golf ball, A Lim Kim finished on top at the LPGA’s season opener, closing in 67 to win by two.

  • Kim, who finished Sunday birdieing three of her final four holes, was the only player to shoot all four rounds in the 60’s (65-69-67-67).
  • For the week in Orlando, Kim hit 45 of 56 fairways in regulation (80%) and 58 of 72 greens in regulation (81%).
  • She was one of 22 players who teed up a Titleist golf ball in the exclusive field, more than seven times the nearest competitor (3).

KIM WINS WITH NEW PRO V1, SIX MORE PLAYERS MOVE TO 2025 MODELS

  • A Lim Kim lead a group of six players at the Tournament of Champions who put a NEW Pro V1 and Pro V1x golf ball in play for the first time in competition this week.
  • The 2020 U.S. Women’s Open champion, who tested the new ball versus her prior generation model in Korea over the offseason, saw immediate success with an opening 7-under 65 Thursday at Lake Nona.
  • She went on to make a field-best 24 birdies (T1) while leading the field in total driving and par-5 scoring. 
  • Also making the move to 2025 models at Lake Nona: Pajaree Anannarukarn (Pro V1x), Megan Khang (Pro V1), Alexa Pano (Pro V1), Patty Tavatanakit (Pro V1x) and Amy Yang (Pro V1x).

  • “I really focus on consistency. Not too far, not too spinning. Every single shot – the same spin and the same flight. That consistency is very, very important.”
  • “My strength is ballstriking, any shape. I want some to fade. I want some to draw. But not too much draw. Not too much fade. So I need that consistent flight and spin.”
  • “I’ve been playing a Titleist golf ball for about 10 years. Before I used [two different competitive brands] but Titleist in my opinion is more consistent.

TOM KIM DEBUTS NEW SCOTTY CAMERON STUDIO STYLE NEWPORT 2

Titleist Brand Ambassador Tom Kim registered one of the week’s best putting performances this week at Pebble Beach after making the move to a NEW Scotty Cameron Studio Style blade putter.

  • Kim, who debuted his Studio Style Newport 2 tour prototype earlier in the week while competing for Jupiter Links in the TGL, gained more than four strokes (+4.018) on the greens on his way to a T7 finish.
  • The 2025 Studio Style line – with 12 different blade and mid-mallet options available in golf shops beginning March 14 – features softer Studio Carbon Steel (SCS) face inserts with chain-link face milling technology.
  • Carbon steel has long been revered by Scotty Cameron enthusiasts and tour players for its unmistakably soft sound and feel.
  • A new electroless nickel plating process has been implemented for the Studio Style line to help enhance durability and prevent the corrosion historically associated with carbon steel putters.

  • Said Kim, following Friday’s second round: “Just back to a blade, something that I've putted well with. You know, I think mallet, blade, they both have their positives and they both have their negatives. I just felt like I needed something a little bit more consistent and something that I’ve won with. It’s not exactly the same blade that I’ve been using, it’s a little different. But I think transitioning from the mallet – some of my (alignment) lines, I started to really like a different type of line than I used to. Just kind of little adjustments. And obviously the new face that they came out with is really nice, so it's been working well so far.”

DP WORLD TOUR | Bahrain Championship

Gaming his NEW 2025 Pro V1 golf ball, Laurie Canter birdied the first hole of a playoff to earn his second career DP World Tour victory.

  • Canter, who closed with a bogey-free final round 3-under 69 to join the playoff at 14 under, played the extra hole to perfection, hitting the fairway on the 18th before flagging his approach from 165 yards and converting the birdie putt. 
  • For the week in Bahrain, Canter ranked 2nd in Strokes Gained: Tee-to-Green (+11.88) and led the field in Scrambling (89%). He also hit 75% greens in regulation (T14).

KORN FERRY TOUR | The Panama Championship

Josh Teater (Pro V1x) shot the low round of the day on Sunday by two shots, a 5-under 65 that saw him from behind to claim his second career KFT title.

PGA TOUR OF AUSTRALASIA | Webex Players Series - Murray River

Titleist Brand Ambassador Blake Proverbs earned his first career PGA Tour of Australasia victory, breaking through in a three-hole playoff.

  • Proverbs turned in rounds of 72-62-63-64 to finish at 23 under, a 72-hole total that was matched by Titleist Brand Ambassador Jason Norris.

SUNSHINE TOUR | MyGolfLife Open

Titleist Brand Ambassador Daniel Van Tonder made it back-to-back wins on the Sunshine Tour, closing in 67 to post 27 under and win by two.

  • His all-Titleist setup included his Pro V1x golf ball, TSR3 driver, 620 CB irons, SM10 wedges and Scotty Cameron putter.
  • The victory marks Van Tonder’s fourth title of the season and his 13th career professional title. It also further extends his position atop the Sunshine Tour’s Order of Merit rankings.
