Hello, looking for some help trying to determine proper ball for me. Over the past 2 years I have kind of gone back in forth between pro v1 and x. Im a 0 handicap with roughly a swing speed in the 105-108 range on a given day. I tend to have a decent ball flight with my irons but last year had higher than desired ball flight with my 910d3, since getting a 913d3 with tour ad x shaft my ball flight has greatly improved to my liking with the prov1. As fair as around the greens I feel like I spin the ball well with chip shots.... however, struggle with 70-100 yard shots due to spinning the ball too much... tend to spin my 54 40-50 feet at times with a full shot. Thanks would appreciate any help.

    Logan:

You may not find that big of difference in the two balls.  My observations of players with that kind of spin, is they tend to overhit their wedges.  Have you tried adjusting your trajectory?

Have you taken all your wedges together to determined the V1 over the V1x?  Last question:  What kind of grooves and are these new or the 'older" wedges?

    Let me know

    Hi Daniel,

The best way to determine which golf ball is right for you is to do an on course comparison. We have created a Golf Ball Fitting Scorecard to help walk you through this process (found here:http://media.titleist.com/images/titleist/pdfs/US/2011/TitleistBallFitting_AdvancedScorecard.pdf)

We utilize a green-to-tee fitting methodology when it comes to golf ball fitting. On short shots around the green (50 yards and in), the Pro V1 and Pro V1x have very similar performance characteristics. On full shots, the Pro V1x is desgined to launch higher and spin less compared to the Pro V1. From the description of your game, I would lean towards the Pro V1x since you seem to be spinning full wedges too much. But there is no substitute for on course testing.

I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Although I hit the Pro V1 longer off the tee than the Pro V1x, I prefer the Pro V1x on everything else from fairway to green. I too have tons of spin and have transitioned solely to the Pro Vi1x for that purpose.

With the Pro V1x I basically am flying and stopping the ball at my desired yardage on full shots. I can still hold 4-5 irons regularly within 1-2 feet of divot.

Just my opinion. As was also stated, nothing is better than on-course testing.

I'm also in this situation, i have been playing the ProV1's for about 2 years consistently after having bad luck with an x, my superstitions! But i played an Pro V1x the other day and wasn't hitting my driver well so it was hard to tell that distance. But my spin was generally the same, maybe a bit less. I got a box of both this year from the holidays and will do my own on course testing! Along with my new Vokey 52 degree wedge! I'll post my findings hopefully this week!

When i played with both a Pro V1x and Pro V1 i found that i liked the Pro V1 better for my swing. The regular Pro V1 was the same distance off the tee as the Pro V1x but had much better feel and control around the greens. I expreienced this much more in one bunker shot that with the Pro V1 hit and spun back a bit where as the Pro V1x simply hit and didn't spin. I like the amount of spin i get with the Pro V1 and have made the decision to stick with it. But if you're in the situation, try out both for your swing to see which one you feel is better! Let's hope for a lower index in 2013!

  8. Can't significantly differentiate the distance difference between the V1 and V1X off the tee but much prefer the feel and action of the X from 175 yds in. I've flip-flopped a few times but always end up back with the ProV1X.  Love both but V1X is in my bag.

ProV has much more spin. Its also a bit softer and slighter shorter off the tee compared to provx.

Really depends on your swingspeed and personal preference
