NXT would be one of the better options...IMHO

How are you missing greens...left, right, short or all three? If your misses are not consistently in the same area, then changing balls may not be the remedy you are seeking to stop missing greens. You might want to consider a tune-up lesson with your irons first.

I would consider taking some lessons from a PGA professional instructor first and foremost. As a 23 handicap I would play any ball that I could find and not worry about it. Set you a goal for improvement and as a reward for example when I get down below a 20 handicap I will buy the ball that I liked the best when I was playing every ball I found.

As a fellow 20+/- handicapper, I completely agree with Carl T's response. However, I have noticed that whenever I play ProV1s and ProV1x's I lose them less than any other ball. This very well could be just all in my head, meaning maybe the cost of the ball is subconsciously making me follow through with my swing. Get lessons though, they help dramatically. Also try to do a ball fitting. Today's technology is insanely accurate and will help you understand YOUR game more.

Consider lessons from your local PGA teaching professional, they help tremendously.

The ProV1 and ProV1x are great balls for ANY player. If you are looking at your budget, the NXT Tour might be a good fit.

Spend a little time with your PGA Professional. Not only will he help your swing, he can help you find the right ball for you game/budget.

Whatever you decide, make an effort to play that ball all of the time. It is one less thing that will be variable in your game. Believe it or not, it make a difference.

Professional advice regarding your game and type of ball is what you are really looking for. Seek out a local pro. Prov1 and Prov1X are great balls for all levels of play. Play one type of ball and stick to it for consistent results and confidence.

Taking lessons with a PGA professional is the best place to start. He can help with Ball fitting also. I think the most important thing is to use the same ball all the time once you get fitted. You learn how it reacts and it makes the most difference.

Of course either pro v is a great option. I notice that I play better with them, however, the ball is not what is keeping you from scoring well. The highlight of using the best ball possible is that it gives you confidence that you might not have with a different ball. I personally like the velocities, they play great and you don't seem to worry about sinking them on bad shots as much.

Being a former "A Caddie" I find more ProV1 and Prov1x's than I can use so cost of the ball isn't a serious concern. My concern is distance and I don't want to move up to shorter tees. Which ball will best help me get to the green?

Even a 20 handicapper will see a difference playing the same ball. I use the -1x because I haven't found a longer ball and the typical 2 piece ball might come close but most will not hold a green like a Pro-V. Using the same ball, you will know what to expect when you do hit a green. I've tried to find a yellow alternative, but nothing works as well as a white Pro-V. NXT Tour was my next best choice.

Play the Velocity. It will provide you overall good performance.
