Is somewhere comparison chart between ProV1 generations? I'm just curious because recently I found one brand new sleeve of first generation of ProV1 and I tried one ball on course. I was amazed how differently it performed compared to new ProV1. I'm sure that new ball fly further but how amount of spin has changed and also it would be nice to know how for example 2008 ProV1 perform compared to 2017 model.

It's amazing how much even last generations have changed. I hit the Pro V1 X and I haven't had any of this years until my fitting. They feel completely different off the face of the club.

I'm a little late, but that is a very good question. I too would like to see the different performance characteristics.
  4. The old ball is likely to be twenty years old and depending on how they have been kept, will have deteriorated causing poorer performance. I often take out much older balls, some 1.62 from the 60s and 70s, it’s good fun, but modern equipment tears them to bits!

I'm with you. The first Pro-V1's spun a lot more than today's version. I used to play a trick shot where I put the ball way back in my stances and would hood a wedge. The ball would come off so low that it looked like I had hit it thin. It would fly to the green and spin back 25 feet or more on the second hop. I can't do that with today's balls.

The Titleist's of years ago were wound balls with Balata covers. They spun more and also had a lot of side spin. They also didn't travel as far. The Titleist's of today are solid construction with a urethane cover and flies straighter and further.

Ah Frank, but those were not Pro V1's, which is the ball he asked about. He's curious about how the 2021 Pro V1 compares with each of the prior generation Pro V1's, not how they compare to the old Balata covered balls.

With limited access to prior generations, I didn’t think much about this.

Until I found a dozen 2015 Pro-V1 with the pink numbering I got for my wife before she gave up golf. What does anyone remember about the 2015 vs the 2017 V and X releases? On simulators I’m getting higher launch angles than I get with the current X.

If memory serves me right, 2017 (or 2019?) was when the V was given a lower flight. The 2015 does appear to not be interchangeable with the current release in the same round.
