What ball would be best with the Tsr4?

    So I’m playing the pro v1 left dash and I love it, and I’m really interested in the Tsr4 driver coming out. My concern is that using that head with the left dash, the ball might not say in the air because of the two elements of low spin. Any thoughts?

    Don’t have a TSR4 yet but do have the TSI4 and have played the left dash with no issues. During my TSR fitting we talked about the left dash as the fitter loved that ball. Said should not be an issue with the driver.

    Loft and shaft selection along with clubhead speed will factor in more than just the model of clubhead you select. The driver fitting should help determine which head and shaft combo is best for you. If you use a premium Titleist fitter or go to the TPI, you should make sure they know which ball you use as part of the fitting. That is exactly why doing a fitting at some golf course demo day or any place that uses range balls will not get you true numbers that will match your play on the course. Probably works okay for the high handicapper but not so much for someone really trying to refine their game. The least changed item in a pro golfers arsenal is the ball. Even Kepka went back to his ProV1x for the US Open after his highly publicized move to another brand's ball.

    If you like the - ProV1x and are committed to playing it exclusively, then start with that and work your way back. During your fitting, the ball will be the constant and then fit the loft and shaft that gets you to the correct launch numbers. You can almost always find a loft / shaft combination to get the appropriate spin.

    Agree, my driver and shaft combination was based on loft and low spin. If you have a good fitter, they will get you the numbers you need. We always use the ball I play during the fittings.

    You may be correct however without a proper look on Trackman it is tough to say...however you can always just go out and play with it to see how it performs which is all that matters at the end of the day.

    The best way to find out is on the course. I go to my club early in the morning and go to the 15 hole, a long straight par 5. I known no one will be there for a while. I take my launch monitor and several types of balls.. prov 1, Prov 1x, Prov -1x…. And I hit lots of shots .. walk out and get them and see which goes longest, straightest etc…. This never lies. You get a great visual of flight, distance etc …I do the same when I am testing shafts.

    Are you paying 1/18th of the green fees? If not you may have to pay taxes on it as an unearned benefit.

    Had an awesome fitter I worked with recently that gave me tons of resources on the process. The big ball/driver piece I picked up was to fit the ball to your short game, then work back. Finally fit your driver to the ball. If the left dash is what you prefer and works best for you putting and chipping then hit that in your driver fitting. Any half decent fitter will be thrilled you want to hit a specific ball for the fitting and not whatever rocks they have sitting on the mat already.
