I am getting ready to order a set of MBs and would like a little input on shaft selection. Previously I was playing PX 6.0 in the AP2 heads. The clubs are 3/4" over and 2.5 upright. My complaint is the launch angle and how high my ball flight is. Length and dispersion is probably the best I have ever had, but throw in a little wind and the heigth plays havoc. My goal with the new irons is to end up with a club that produces a boring, mid heigth trajectory, moderate spin shot with my normal swing. According to the launch monitor swinging a normal length 6 iron with an s300 my clubhead speed was consistently between 95 and 98 MPH launching at about 15 1/2 degrees with between 7900 and 8400 RPMs. The fitter did not have a large selection of stiffer shafts and none with a grip on them that fit me so I was not able to try an X100, 6.0 or a 6.5. I will add that my tempo is a little quicker than average, I tend to load the shaft heavily and have a pretty steep attack angle. I will also add that I play S400 in my MP 33s and tend to loose a lot of distance as the ball launches with a ton of spin, climbs to a high apex, and then basically fall straight down. With this information can you provide input as to which shaft/s would fit my swing the best? Thanks

You are launch the golf ball properly but spinning about 2000rpm more than optimal! Spin is the main reason you see shots flying too high with severe wind affect. A good place to start is with the 712 AP2, 1* strong, and the KBS Ctaper or DG X100. I would also consider a shorter club because, based on particular swing traits, a shorter club may reduce spin as well. RC

Thanks Ryan! After a long conversation with a Titleist rep this morning I placed the order for the new MBs. Went with C Taper S+ hard stepped once at 1/2" over. Hopefully the combination of the C Taper reducing spin and a little more stiffness helps get the revs down without rebuilding my swing.

Good stuff.  Let us know the results!
