    Hi,

I recently bought mp69's with soft stepped KBS TOUR reg.

Unfortunately I swing way to much from the outside and I'm not consistent enough to play these blades.

What iron would be the best for me ap2 or cb ? My SS 6 iron is about 82-86 mp/h depend on the days and with my current set up the balls are going to high. What shaft would be the best for me with ap2? Maybe an KBS C-Taper reg soft stepped or straight?

Assuming the ap2 launch the ball higher than the miz blades.

    Any help would be aprreciated

I have the same swing speed as yourself. I hit the ball pretty straight. I do have an outside-in swing with my woods and I use a slightly closed stance with them to promote more of an inside-out swing.

I don't have any problem with the hips starting the downswing. My hybrid and iron swing is pretty square. My guess is you are hitting a high fade or maybe slicing a little bit.

Outside-in swing or possibly coming over the top. If you were outside-in and the clubface closed, you would be hitting low flying shots to the left (assuming you are RH).

Paul Wilson of Revolution Golf (www.revolutiongolf.com) has some nice tips (has an anti-slice video series). I can hit a player iron like an AP2 and actually used DCI 981s for awhile.

Have you tried AP1s? I had been playing Eye 2 for my short irons and replaced them with AP1s and love the latter to death. You might want to try DG R300 also. It is a low ball flight shaft. I do admit I like the feel of KBS shafts but am not really a SME on them.

Bob, Of the two clubs you mentioned the AP2 is by far the more forgiving. IMO even though the CB has a shallow cavity it still does not let you get away with poor contact. The AP1 is also a good choice for a forgiving club. To me the choice would be whether I wanted an offset club or not.

As far as the C tapers are concerned I am by no means an expert, but my understanding of there characteristicd the tend to lean more towards higher swing speeds and people that tend to attack and compress the ball.

I replaced my Eye 2 short irons with AP1s. Put the Eye 2s on Craig's List and got a buyer coming by today.
