  1. I just received my custom driver. 1/2” under standard length, tensei white x flex. I just said standard weight, tipping, grip, etc. For some reason it feels lighter in the head compared to my TS2 with ventus blue 6x. Spec sheet says D2.5 on this TSI3. What kind of head weight would I need add to get it into D4-5 territory? Is D2 the standard usual weight for TSI3 drivers? Thanks!

My TSi3 9.0* has a Ventus Blue 6x in it, playing at 44.75", tipped .5". I have the +4 blue weight (12 gram weight) from Titleist in it and my driver swingweights at D2. As far as I know, Titleist does not have an OEM weight for the TSi3 that weighs more than 12 grams. I wish they had a 14 or 16 gram weight.

I tried a 16 gram weight from Golfworks in my TSi3 and it brought my swingweight to D4.5. Too bad the weight broke the first round I used it. So I am relegated to a D2 swingweight with heaviest weight that Titleist offers.

Titleist customer service and support, do you have any 14 gram or 16 gram weights available? How do you get a heavier swingweight for Tour Players that play a shorter shaft or prefer a heavier swingweight? Hot melt? Thanks!

I checked the custom options in the Titleist catalog and 12g weights are the max you can order for a TSi3 driver. You might consider talking to a local Titleist authorized shop (some have a experienced repair person on hand) regarding adding lead tape, IF customer service cannot help you.

  5. Adding 2g to the head should add 1 SW all other things staying the same.

Titleist Sure Fit page shows that if the shaft is -1/2" you need to go +2g weight. Since you chose standard weight, your swing weight is lighter.

However, I recently acquired a Ventus Black 6X and I had it cut -1/2" to 45" from 45.5" standard and gripped 1 wrap GP TV360 standard. I had the swing weight checked and it was like D3.2-ish with the standard weights in my TS3 head.

I was just fit for the TSR3 at my golf club 9/15/2022. I am a nut job about my swing weights, lofts and lie, and have my own MR3 Loft and Lie machine and Swingweight scale from Golfworks (the same one they use at Golf Galaxy). Head weights can vary, shaft balance points vary, and grips play a role in swingweight. I asked the fitter to please order me a TSR weight kit with my new driver (I ordered the +4 weight with the head). Generally speaking, you need to add 4-5 grams to the head for each .5" you shorten the shaft. I went with the TSR3 8*, AD UB 6x at 45" (45.5" is standard), with a +4 gram weight in the H1 position. The same set up in my TSi3 with a Ventus TR Blue 6x shaft has my swing weight at D3.5. My TSi3 head with the +4 weight is 198.5 grams. I like to have my driver at D3 to D4, and because I don't know how the UB 6x shaft will balance, and I don't know what the final headweight will be, I bucked up and order the weight kit. Also, Titleist does not have the MCC White Midsize as an option so I had them put a MCC White standard on with 4 wraps of tape. That may also affect swingweight. So hopefully I will receive it in a 2-3 weeks and get a chance to tinker and play with it before the courses shut down here in Minnesota in late October!

Lots of knowledge on club building. Yes, head weight can vary. Did you specify swing weight as well for your custom order?
At TPI the fitter specified an 8g weight (driver length shortened 1.5 inches). Presumably they will then build to stock D2-D3.
