Adjusting for Toe strikes

  1. I watched a fitting at TPI on YouTube.

The player had a tendency to hit closer to the toe. The fitter adjusted the hosel and mentioned that he was not adjusting the lie/loft to promote a draw or fade but to help the player hit closer to the Center.of the face.

Can anyone explain how adjustments can be made to get more centered hits?

I would be just as confused as you. Not sure about the science behind that adjustment. If you contact the ball before the turf, where you strike the ball on the face will already be happening in relationship to the shaft's swing plane. I guess if a lie was too flat and the toe was way down, it might cause you contact the ball more towards the end of the club but to me it would seem that the contact would still be center and the face angle would be the thing that would be off. Sorry, I do not have a PHD in Physics but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express once.

Well since I have limited technical expertise I have to at least try to keep the forum entertaining. Sometimes I fail at that too.
