How big of a difference is a 60,54,48 set than a 60,56,48. Which set up is,more preffered and is a 56 similiar to a 54 in pitching and full swings.

The goal is to get wedges that you can hit any distance and even gaps. 48 to 56 is a big gap. I assume the 48 is your PW that matches your set. that is relatively weak for modern clubs and I like it. I would think a good set would be 48, 52, 56. If you want something a bit more lofted you could bent the 56 to 57...if you want to go 58 then perhaps bend the 52 to 53. I would stay away from the 60. Currently I have 47, 50, 54 and 58 in may bag (4 wedges). --Jerry

The 60, 54, 48 set up gives you equal loft separations in your wedges.  Don't know if that makes a difference to you or not but it could make determining distance ranges easier.

I agree with Ritch. My wedge setup is 50-08 (bent to 51), 54-11 (bent to 55) and 62-07. The 62 combines the features of the 60-07 and 62-07. If I use my Eye 2s, I don't need the "W" (48.5) since the 9 iron is 45* and I can work the distances on it. If I use the DCI irons, I put in the P (47).

I have four wedges at equal increments: 48 - 52 - 56 - 60 all spin milled Vokey. I use them all. 48 & 56 the most with 52 & 60 the least but about the same each. Even if I only used one of them a time or two in a round, I couldn't/wouldn't leave any of them out of my bag.

You COULD say that I have a 4 wedge setup because the 9 iron is 45* and that is only 2* stronger than a standard PW. MY "W" is only 2.5* from my 50 (bent to 51). I also found out that the fully choked full golf shot of the 9 iron and the normal full golf shot of the 50 are the same distance. I rarely use the 62 but it IS there (as is the chipper) because Murphy's Law prevails in that "the moment you leave something out, you're going to need it." I left the chipper out one time and had a shot where my feet were in a bunker and the ball was almost waist high in front of me; I was able to pull the shot off with a 60 but could have done a left handed chip with the chipper.

Here's an interesting wedge - Vokey 256-10 bent to 57. I got one dirt cheap (with the intent of using it with my DCI 4-GW set). Took it to Adm Baker and put it through paces (the soft bunker by the driving range, the small practice green by the dr, the wet bunker by the clubhouse and the big practice green by the same). It even shined on the severe downhill lie chip shot on a mound to the green below. It would also fit in nicely with the 45* 9 iron, the 50-08 bent to 51 and there would be a 6* gap between clubs.

    Tanner,

There is no set in stone Wedge Set make up, but here are a few tips to get the wedge set that works best for you. For best results, we recommend visiting your local Titleist Certified fitter for a proper Wedge Fitting

If you properly fit your yardage gaps, the lofts you carry will fall into place. We recommend hitting several 3/4 shots with your pitching wedge and note the carry distance. Then hit several 3/4 shots with the club you prefer out of the sand. If the yardage gap is less than 30 yards, we recommend filling that gap with 1 wedge in between your PW and Sand wedge. If the yardage gap is 50 yards or more, we recommend filling that yardage gap with at least 2 wedges. Attached is a link to our Vokey Wedge Guide which may help you get a good start to get the right Vokey's for you.
