Huge fan of Titleist and am about to order the 710's .... Now i haven't hit any demo club (no demo's available in India for the same) and am ordering simply on gut ,have a good feeling about them and  love the look... am a fairly good ball striker however play only about once a week now, and am perhaps not as consistent as I’d like to be. Currently  play to about a 8 -10 from a previous handicap of about 2, when i spent hours on the course....

All the reviews i have read on these clubs seem to suggest that they are for the very low handicap player.... difficult for an average player to hit them straight..

Given the amount of golf I play these days and my level, would you recommend these clubs??

    Cheers,

I wouldn't recommend them, but I wouldn't turn you off them if you really wanted them either.  I have a different view than most when it comes to 'players' clubs.  They are no harder to hit solid than any other club.  The difference comes when you don't hit them solid.  With the MB clubs, there is very little forgiveness so any off center hit will typically come up way short and/or offline.  If you can hit the center most of the time, you should be okay.

I think most people confuse a mis-hit and a bad swing.  My last few times out I kept track of mis-hits.  An average of about one per round with irons.  Bad swings with good contact were a few more.  But me missing greens was not because I hit the ball poorly, it was because I swung the club poorly.  I guess my point is this, if you can hit the ball in the center the majority of the time, you can hit any club.  If you hit a lot of balls towards the toe or heel, you would probably not like these too much.

The 710mb irons are great, having played to a 2 handicap at one point tells me you know how to swing a club and the feedback you will get from these will help you with any adjustments. Another nice thing is you will definatly know if your swing is ON that day, and whether or not to go for it or play safe! My suggestion would be to consider a mixed bag of 710, maybe 3-4 iron 710cb & 5-PW 710mb irons, if you are feeling uneasy. The longer irons are the ones that i'm inconsistant with,  I have no trouble with the mid & short irons however seem to be 50/50 with my 3 &4 irons off the deck, hit them solid & long off the tee, without any practice time? I'm like yourself having played to a scratch .7 handicap years back, now play to 5 - 8 with no time to practice & only play on the weekend. I love the feedback & consistant ball flight with these clubs, and on those windy days i feel that i have the advantage in my sunday foresome with the trajectory control you can only get from a pure blade.

  4. if your a good ball striker the mbs will be fine and they will help you out that much more
