Got my new AP2's, threw them in the bag with the 915D2 and the two 915H's I got a week or so ago, and headed for the course. The AP2's are incredible. I am 64 years old with a 12 handicap, and I know that the AP2's are "above my skill level", but I will tell anyone who wants the buttery feel of forged irons to take the leap. I was told that playing Titleist is like being a Harley person. Well...I am a Harley person but color me convinced with regard to Titleist. They are definitely the Cadillac of golf clubs. Should anyone be looking for me this weekend, you all know where to find me. Thank you Titleist!

Hey, Tim T Just curious of your thoughts on the new AMT shafts. Thanks.

I wasn't exactly sure how it was going to be at first, but after playing almost 100 holes with them, I am quite pleased. I got 4-PW and it seems to me like the swing weight is pretty much the same all the way through. Like I said, "they may be above my skill level", virtually every shot I hit felt very crisp.

Thanks, Tim. I play the 712 AP2's and am looking to upgrade. I too am 64 and fitted to regular flex shafts. Good luck and hit 'em straight and long!

Great to hear that you are enjoying your new 716 AP2's Tim. I stopped by the golf shop to pick up my new AP2s yesterday evening and found that the put the incorrect shaft flex in the club. All of the other specs were correct but somehow it appears there was a mix up somewhere along the way with the shaft flex in so thy are going to have to go back. It was pretty hard to go give them back still in the plastic when all I wanted to do was hit them! They look great and I can't wait to put them in the bag, but it looks like I am going to be playing the 714 AP2's for a little bit longer!

Mike...my new sticks will arrive Thursday..What shafts did you go with?

I went with the stock AMT's. The progressive weighting made it feel like the swing weight was the same for all the irons, but you've got to go with what fits you best. See the nearest fitter.

    P.S. I really like the AMT's

Hey Mike I know how that hurts having to wait when you thought you had them in your hands. I got the 715's last year with Kura Kage fiberglass shafts and have not look back since. It took a little extra time for me to get my special shafts but you will be glad you got the correct shafts in your AP2 716. Happy bird hunting!

Jerry, I tried out the new AMT shafts while I was being fitted a few weeks ago for my 716's and I feel that if you love DG then you will love the AMT's however I decided against them and went Project X...obviously a pure feel and preference thing!

    Good Luck!

Chris, thanks for the input and I think you confirmed what I was thinking as I no longer hit the DG's, too heavy. I was fitted for my 712's and was going to use the same specs and stick with the KBS tour regular. I still hit them well and like the feel. However, I've been hitting some at my fitters and like the Project X 5.5 and love the feel of the even lighter XP 95. May end up going with another formal fitting session if I have any doubt.

Tim, I have a similar thought. A few of my buddies kept hammering me about being the " Brand Name Guy" when I switched to Titleist. They said its all the name like Harley and that's why you pay retail. Well after a full season and dropping my handi cap to a 2!! I love the Harley clubs and by far the BEST out there. The feel is by far my favorite part!!!!!

I have found the same to be true of Titleist as it is with Harley's....as the saying goes, "If I have to explain, you wouldn't understand!" I agree, it's all about the feel. At my age, distance is not much of an issue anymore.

Congrats on the new irons...You summed it up right there..."If you have to explain it, they won't understand!"

Just got mine on Saturday. Along with a diagnosis of tendinitis in my ankle... so needless to say, I wasn't able to go play a round with them, but I did make it to the driving range (probably still against doctor's orders, but I couldn't help myself). I had the 712 AP1s, and I honestly think these might be a little more forgiving than the older AP1s on thin and fat shots. The AMT shafts are really nice. I agree with the others. Similar feel to the DGs but swingweight across clubs feels more consistent.

Way to go guys. Now you got me thinking about selling my ap2 712 irons and going with the ap2 716 irons.

I got fit to be 1/2" short on the new AP2 irons. Does anyone know how this might effect the swingweight? I do not want them in the "c" range! I would want the standard D2 swingweight.

I have heard from some others that the new AP2's are more forgiving than some of the previous model AP1's.  I also have the 714 AP1's after switching back to Titleist from some png i20's.  The offset is absolutely killing my game, but the fact that having twins under 2 hasn't done much to help it lately either.  Wanting to give these another season, then may opt for the 716 (or newer if I wait long enough) AP2's.

  22. I am looking to buy the new 716 AP2's.. Currently have the original Ap2's , restarted with the XP 95 stiff shafts .compared the 716 with a XP 90 shaft to my club  and not much change in spin , distance was about 5/6 yards better.  Guess can't go wrong if I buy or keep the old set one more year.

Congrats....Tim,    .... I picked up my new AP2S  on Friday,  did the appropriate unveiling while watching the golf channel which really weirded out my wife. (Hahaha ) .. Went to range on Saturday morning they felt great but I was rusty because I hadn't swung any clubs for about a month .I was getting honeydos  out of the way while waiting for the new clubs to come..Mine are Ap2s, + 1"          2°upright , with the AMT DYNAMIC GOLD SHAFTS &  New Golf pride decade blue and platinum. ..Can't wait to play a round this weekend. ..GO TITLEIST
