How far can the new 716 AP1's be bent? I own a set of 712 AP1's and have had them bent to 2° flat but they tend to go back to the standard lie over time. If I ordered a new set of 716 AP1's are they cast to my specifications or are standard lie irons bent to my specifications? I would really like them to be 2.5° or 3° flat.

    Thanks,

    David A.

  2. Hi David,

We would use a standard lie angle head and bend it two degrees flat. Our production teams are able to bend an iron to 2.5 or 3 degrees flat, but it is not recommended and doing so will void any warranty relating to cosmetic issues around the bending area.

Thanks for the feedback. Can you elaborate on why that is? It seems with the proper recommnedations to "get fit", there would be more fitting options coming from Titleist.

I've been fit several times over the years to 1/2" over standard at 3* flat. This is what puts the ball marks on the center of the face and bottom center of the club on the lie board.

So basically, I can't have Titleist AP1s in that set up?

  4. We are able to bend irons 3 degrees flat without damaging the structural integrity of the club head, but there is a chance bending marks could be left as a result of bending the club outside our standard range. These marks are typically left, if left at all, on chrome heads. Since AP1 irons are not chrome around the hosel we are most often able to buff out any marks, but we always include the disclaimer regardless of the club model.

Love it! I just ordered a set from Salish Cliffs in WA. I can't wait to get them in the bag. Thanks for all you do!

Personally, I would rather have the shafts cut and move a little closer to the ball, than to bend each hosel.
