Frank,
By now you have hit your new irons on the range and at the course, so how about a first-hand user review. Considering the 716 AP1s, but have not even been to a golf shop to look at them, let alone hit them (still out gaming my 712s while we have good weather here).
Thanks,
Barry

The AP1s are picking up distance because the are a bit stronger than in the past. If properly fit and having the right shaft, additional distance could be added. I currently play 714 AP2s and am considering taking a look at them with maybe a KBS 100 shaft or even a PX 5.5 shaft. My current shaft is a XP 95 and I tend to feel it might be a bit light for me. I do go a bit left with it. Just dreaming I guess or plan on talking to my fitter soon. David is the man, he has been at it for about 25 years.

I was having the same struggle as you. After a lot of time with the demo 7 iron in AP1 and AP2, I went with the 716 AP1 with the stock AMT s300 (AP2) shafts. Best of both worlds for me. I was stilla able to work the AP1 a bit, but the misses were better everywhere and probably a club stronger than the AP2 and my current set. Good luck with your search!

This morning at 10 am I picked up my 716 AP1's. Tomorrow It's to the range and Monday It's on to the 1st tee.

I picked up my set yesterday - AP1 graphites. Hit a few shots at the shop and liked them and hit a small bucket with a few clubs today at the range. So far they seem to be a more solid strike than my TM RBZ's I bought back in 2013. First full game with them tomorrow if we don't have any rain here in Port Charlotte, FL but it's not looking too good right now. The RBZ's were steel shaft and these are graphite so that may be an interesting change.
