  1. I have a hard time hitting a three wood. What hybrid can I get to replace a fairway wood ? Or can a 5 or 7 wood hit just as far with the added loft?

depending on how far you hit the ball you could try a 18 degree hybrid. is the problem that you can not get your wood in the air or do you have this problem with all your woods? also if you have not been fit for the proper shaft flex and length this could add to your problems.

I have a 18* 915H and plan on turning in down to a 17.25* and this might work for you. Have a new 816H1 19* coming and turning it up to a 20*. The new hybrids are rather long and accurate. Might want to go to a demo day and try it. It's very versatile and become a triple threat club. Off the tee, out of the rough and off the fairway. Just food for thought. Cheers.
  4. I don't have a hard time with my other clubs. I was thinking a 5 wood  cause of the loft . Also with my 3 wood I can't keep it straight

Getting fit with the correct shaft is very, very important. I tried my 913h 19 degree hybrid with a speeder 8.8 and I was all over the range. I changed to a rogue black and every ball was dead straight. So go get fit and everything will be fine again with your 3 wood.

i would go get the length and flex checked before you go spend money on a new wood. it could be a simple fix of cutting it down and inch and raising the loft. if the shaft is not down flexing at the right point it will also lead to weird results. did you get fitted for the shaft or was it off the rack? i would try a few things with it. maybe even some led tape around the back perimeter to help balance it and get it up. 15 bucks in labor is a lot better then a new wood.

Just about any hybrid can replace a 3 wood. Going to a 7 or 9 wood is also a viable plan. Both a 7 or 9 wood are good fun to hit. I know my response doesn't give much in the way of help, but I would try both of your own suggestions to see which you prefer.

You may have the same issue I have with fairway woods in that my launch angle is low. I have a 915F high launch 3 metal. It's basically a 16.5* head at the same length as a normal 3 wood. I find that the "Active Recoil Channel" really enhances the club. My 915 is easily the best 3 wood I've ever owned. It's very forgiving and very long. Make sure you get fit. If you purchase a 18* hybrid you may have the same issue. Just make sure you try the club first if not getting fit and preferably on an outdoor range.

In general, most amateurs will do better with a 4/5 wood than a 3 wood. An 18 hybrid will have a shorter shaft than an 18 fairway. Somewhere between loft, length, and head style, you need to find the combo that suits you better than your current 3W.

Another option to consider is a 91x 19* hybrid. It would be similar to a 5W but may be easier to get the ball up in light rough and off the deck. I have a 913 19* and find that it is the perfect club for me.
