Currently playing 913 D2 with Diamana blue shaft, 60 grams, R flex. Even adjusting down to 8.75 hitting it very high. Trying to gain more yardage and would like to get a lower flight and less spin by changing shafts. Swing speed is about 90 MPH. Anyone know of a top grade shaft that could accomplish this

My fitter put me in a Aldila Rogue Black 70, mid launch, stiff shaft for my 915D2 set at 10.25*.  My club head swing is 93mph and he got my revolutions around 2000-2500 which is pretty good.  They also make a Silver 60, but not in a Regular shaft.   Have you seen a fitter for optimum performance?   I am hitting it in the 230-250+ range which is pretty good for my age.  I am 69.

    Hi Joseph,

That's a great question. But there are a lot of factors that go into it. The shaft that you are currently using is a mid-launching shaft, so you will have a higher ball flight right off the bat from there.

Of course, everyone will say to go and get fitted and that is the best thing to do, so you can see which shaft fits your swing the best. Since there are so many shafts out there, anyone could recommend a shaft, but it might be the shaft for them and not necessarily for you.

You mentioned that you are looking to gain more yardage, but did you want to achieve more carry or more total (with roll)?

I had the same issue until I went to get fitted, I thought my launch was too high and I wasn't getting the maximum distance I could with more roll. They always say that more loft is good, so I started using a 10.5* driver and then I lost yards. I live in Arizona, so I play hard fast surfaces, so my angle of decent was too steep, so the ball would essentially land and stop. I got fitted and went to a 9.5* driver and the carry was about the same, but I gained a good amount of roll.

I would try the Aldila Rouge shaft, as those are so popular right now and it's a great product.

Let us know what you end up getting and how the results turn out.

Go to your local Titleist dealer and get fit.  It is easy and the only way to go.  This will give you all the info you need on the correct, loft, lie and length of shaft as well as what shaft is the best.

    Fittings are a must.

I guess the conclusion is, go see a fitter and you problem can greater be improved.  Cheers.
