Their is only so far that the manufacturers can take golf clubs, they have to stay within the regulations so i'd say that their is very little difference between each generation of club especially in recent years. Other than having a re-design on the back and the 716 having titanium in the lower lofted clubs i'd say that their is very little difference between them, the 714 AP2 is a fantastic club just like the 716 will be but they won't be radically different, they'll be very similar with similar excellent results.

I've tried the 716, it's just my personal preference is for the 714 as i like the look of the back of the club better and the results in my carry were not far off identical to the 714.

I'm sure you'll be very happy with which ever you choose, Jordan Spieth didn't do too bad with the AP2 714 :)
