I am considering upgrading to 716 series and I have played mostly CB versions before and also played 710AP2's before. I currently play 714 CB with S300. Mostly care about feel and wondering if anyone has hit both AP2 and CB 716 and has any advice. I am in the cold in Wisconsin and don't plan on hitting any of the irons until I can get outside on grass and see how the flight is.

It took me months to decide. I wore out some balls at Golfsmith. I played MB's for a long time, and decided to make a change. I really liked the CB's, but for ME, I hit them very high with ridiculous spin. The AP2's were a lower ball flight and actually a club longer. Tough call Bro, like I said, it took me awhile.....They all feel great!!...

AVPILLAI, I have played the 735 and went to the AP2 and this year I went into the fitting thinking about Ap2,CB combo and came out with Ap2 and T-MB combo to be honest I think hitting them is the only true way to see what you really want. I could tell a big change from the 716 Ap2 verses my 710 AP2. The CB are really great clubs and prob just as forgiving as my 710 AP2 but the T-MB are GREAT!!! For me I was really judging my misses and the AP2 and T-MB where the right fit for me. They all feel great when you hit them good but, where does the ball go and how much distance do you lose when you miss it that is what I looked at and for me it was T-MB,AP2 combo. Hope this helps

    Grindelwald,

I made a test on both, AP2 and CB, and decided for the CB
shaping the balls in the air was easier and the feedback and feel I liked more

I've hit 712 CB'S since they came out
Bought 716 AP2'S with same shafts. They went lower, were no easier to hit and no longer. Sold them and tried and bought AP1'S 716. Gave those to my wife.
Now I have 716 CB'S. Love them. Biggest difference is the 5,6,&7 irons. Much easier to launch
For me the " easy to hit clubs" just aren't easier to hit. I loose control of my scoring irons. Harder to knock down the pins, and long irons aren't longer as everyone else claims . Taking loft differences into account the CB's go higher as actually further/loft.
I have also found that the fitting clubs played different than the sets I have the clubs I ordered in the AP1 &2's.
CB irons were the same but I was fit into different shafts in the different heads.
Try them for yourself. CB's are awesome irons. Great feel and feedback. Better that the others pin both. I also tried and ruled out T-MB.

I made the jump from 712 AP2's to the 716 CB's and absolutely love them. I was fortunate enough to be invited to test the clubs before they hit stores, and found that the clubs are more forgiving then the previous version. All in all I loved the performance of the CB's and am not regretting my decision at all.

I just updated my AP2 710's to the CB 716's. I hit both the AP2's and CB's and found the CB's to have better feel and a little flatter ball flight. Unfortunately due the weather here I've only been able to play a couple of rounds with them, but I could see a huge difference. If you li,ed older CB models you'll love the new ones.

I can't help with the 716's but several years ago I was playing with 714 CB's with S300 shafts. When I came to be fitted for new ones, the Titleist fitter put me in to 714 AP-2's with the same shafts. They were a bit longer, more forgiving and I could work them better. I have since changed the shafts to XP-95's which are a tad longer and higher. I haven't hit 716's but they better be really good when I need new ones because the 714 AP-2's are the best irons I have ever played with. I'm 67, 2HC, 105 swing speed for reference.

I have the 716cb's and love them, so I may be a little bias. Both the new AP2 & CB offer good feel, however the CB has better feedback IMO. The new CB's are going to be slightly more forgiving than the 714cb you are currently playing, and the 716 long irons are much easier to launch and carry further than the 714. The new stock AMT shafts are great!

I have 716 CB 2 iron with C Taper and just ordered 716 MB in TT Dyn Gold S300... after playing TM Rsi2 last year...

the 716 CB are very forgiving for a players club... VERY FORGIVING

I only went 716 MB because I grew up playing blades and like to change up fade/draw by hole and got a fitting for them (I hit long irons extremely well)

For mishits the CB's are almost as great as AP2

    Good Luck

I went with the CB's over the AP1's and 2's for two reasons....1) they just plain look better at address. 2) for me...a larger headed club is harder to hit and the feel of the AP1 & AP2 sets were just ...well...off. They are great clubs for sure..just not great for me. When the Titleist rep asked me to swing the CB it was like butter. One thing you need to remember is that Titleist is shipping these clubs with the new AMT shaft as their stock shaft. That shaft is designed to allow people to get the longer clubs airborne more easily. I didn't hit that shaft very well as I have no issues getting the ball in the air, so it was S300 for me. The main thing is to be able to hit them all....on an outdoor range....and get the right shaft/head combo for you.

I play a combo set CB/MB, after playing the AP2s part of last season. I didn't care for the FEEL of the AP2s, and found it harder to work the ball left-to-right with them.

The new CBs (with the tungsten weighting) are just as forgiving as the previous AP2s were.

Make sure you get fit, (of course), and check out the KBS shafts during your fitting. I like the feel better than the DGs.

flight pattern depends on the shaft, not the head of the club as much. I would try getting fitted with different shafts on the AP2 and CB. I personally tried both and liked the smaller head and thinner profile on the CB than AP2...
