Hi, I have been playing my wonderful set of AP2 and recently, I have thinking of reducing the loft angle to increase distance.

    What would be the consequence?

Just watch when doing it that you don't mess up the Lie angle as that can make you start hitting draws and fades if you aren't careful. I would get with a professional fitter to help you determine if this is the best route for you do gain distance or if a shaft change or weight change wouldn't do the trick. A good club fitter can give you a lot of insight once they see the numbers.

There's a 1:1 correlation between changing loft and bounce

Depending on factors like: club head speed, launch angle, face angle, etc.. and the amount you want to bend your clubs (1 degree, 2 degrees), it may not give you added distance, but might reduce your distance.

Before having anything done to your clubs, visit a certified Titleist fitter and work though the fitting process to see what the recommendation is from the fitting.

From my experience, you can make some adjustments. Talk to a good, experienced club maker/fitter. I honestly haven't bent anything with the newer material, so I don't know how far you can go.....
  6. With stronger lofts your balls apex won't be as high so you might not get the carry you once were. Also it'll be harder to control distance and ball flight as well as reduced back spin on shots. I would honestly just stick with what you got. They are the loft for a reason. Unless you have serious distance gapping issues between clubs I wouldn't change them

If you bend the club to reduce the loft, you would also be reducing the bounce on the sole of the club. The club would have a tendency to "dig" into the ground more which may or may not be bad depending on the angle of attack with your swing. Why not just take one more club to get the extra distance ?

what i've always believe is that if you decrease the loft of your irons, you will also be decreasing the bounce of the sole. So you may want to be careful with this process.

Could have an effect on the bounce. Would recommend talking with your fitter. Spoke with the guys who do my clubs and they said if you are a digger could have an effect. David and Kristen are the best in SC and I trust their knowledge. Titleist certified. With the AP2s, you can always change it back easily.
