  1. Can you use the 917 driver without a surfeit CG to reduce swing weight?

  2. I suppose you could however they make a range of lower weights that offer fade, draw and neutral capabilities...

I'm not sure you really want to do that. I would suggest that you get a lighter weight. Removing the weight will change the swingweight by a huge (5 points!). For example if you have a 12 gram weight, your swing weight will be reduced close to 12 points (D3 to about C2).

You might want to seek out your local fitter before making any changes.

That is quite true! Lighter isn't better, contrary to popular belief.....

Removing the weight also will change the center of mass of the club and have an adverse effect on the MOI of the club.

Another question about the Surfeit CG...

When I was fitted for my 917D, my fitter...at that point in time...didn't have the CG weight kit assortment to really fit the club properly. How and where can I obtain the 917Dweight kit?

Richard, any authorized Titleist retailer can order weight kits for you. Be prepared for some sticker shock! The complete kit will be close to $200 and a single weight set will be close to $49.

Disclaimer: Prices are set by the individual retailer and will vary!
