  1. I am looking at a set of 718 AP1 irons. I will be going through the club fitting process prior to buying. I am average at best on consistency of impact position each swing.

I did hit a AP1 7 iron to see what kind of results I would get. I didn't get the distance that I currently am achieving with my Steelhead XR Pro irons. But, I was impressed with two items.

    1) Dispersion was much better with the AP1's 2) Feel on ball impact position feedback was great

I have a high ball trajectory currently and ball speed of 121 mph with the AP1 7 iron.

Any suggestions on what I should be concerned with during the actual fitting process?

    Thanks

    Hi,

I just had a AP1 fitting. In the fitting we looked initially at getting the best performance from the irons in terms of distance & dispersion, but then focused on angle of decent and spin rate to ensure they were correct to get the ball to stop.

Once that was sorted we reviewed Hybrids and Wedges to make sure gaping was correct at either end of the bag as the lofts are slightly stronger than a more traditional set like AP2's for example
  3. Thank you for your response. That is sound advice to consider during the process.

Kyle, don't get too hung up on distance if the AP1 gives you more consistency. You can always adjust which club to hit for distance but can't adjust for the dispersion issue. They will also work with you on shaft options which will also make a big difference in distance and dispersion. Have fun and good luck!
  5. Thank you. That is sound advice that my ego needs to remember during the fitting process. Thanks again for your input.

I would suggest you have an open mind and try everything the fitter puts in your hands. Take notes. Good luck!
