I really want a new set of Titleist irons but I just cannot afford a new set.  What should I look for in used set of Ap2's or CB 710's?  Ideally I would want a set in mint or like new condition but again, it's not in the budget.  As you would imagine the ones with the most face wear are the least expensive.  Does anyone have experience with reconditioning?  How much groove wear can be repaired?

    Thanks,

    Travis

Being on a budget,  I just bought a beautiful set on 695 MBs 3-pw with a 695 CB 2 iron.  These were in mint condition with new grips and sensicore shafts for $168.   Somebody, somewhere will be looking to upgrade this winter and if you look around, you'll find some deals on a nice set.   I played 3 rounds with these so far.  I looked at all the plder models and really decided on the 695sMBs   I can only imagine how sweet the new AP2s or 710s play but can't afford a new set.   People scoff at buying on the internet and you have to be careful, but deals are out there.    Picked up a nice Titleist Staff Bag also for $69.    Seek and you shall find.

    Good Luck

If you really like the new CB irons and find the price too high, consider the older 690.CB irons. The overall design is very much the same as the new CB irons with only slight changes to the sole width and stronger lofts on the new irons. They are usually available on Ebay for around $200 in good condition.

Once in hand, you could have them bent to your desired setup, whether upright, flat or whatever you like. At the same time, you could have them lofted to stronger modern specs and then... enjoy some of the best feeling irons Titleist ever made. Take my word for it when I tell you how the 690.CB is held in reverence among Titleist afficionados...
