Hi- I'm a 1.0 index- for years this has been my go to club from 110-125 yards. It provides a ton a variety in terms of yardage, flight and control. Last year with the pending groove change, I decide to buy another to have a back up. I recently put the new one into play and cannot replicate the previous distances, I'm max'in out 10-15 yards less. The shaft length is the same, loft and bounce are identical.

Does anyone has a similiar experience and a possible explaination (club head material, shaft stiffness, flex/kick point, getting older....)

    These are both non-conforming right?

It's possible that the grooves are different on either wedge and the lack of distance could be caused by fresher, sharper, bigger grooves on the newer wedge.

The new groove tends to launch higher with less spin and in some cases, players hit them farther.  A worn out set of NC grooves may produce a similar effect.

    Mike,

If your grooves are worn on your old wedge the ball spin will be less than a new wedge with sharp grooves.  So my thoughts are that your old wedge, due to worn grooves, is producing less ball spin which is enabling you to hit the ball farther than your new vokey, which is producing more ball spin due to new grooves.  The good news is you'll be able to stop the ball on the greens much better but may consider delofting new wedge a degree or two to make your yardage gaps in your wedges ideal.  I have a 54 degree vokey as well but have it bent to 53 degrees to fit in to my yardage gaps on my wedges.  Just my thoughts.

You might want to think about putting them on a loft/lie machine to double check the lofts of both wedges.
