    Team Titleist,

I was curious to know if the Titleist version of the Aldila RIP a80 would be offered without an upcharge to be put into a Fd wood. If an upcharge is in order, what would that upcharge be? I noticed that this shaft was offered in the driver line free of charge.

    Thanks,

    Tony C

The Aldila RIP 80 is not an upcharge (and it is the aftermarket RIP), but we do have to order the shaft so it might take two or three weeks to get the shaft.

    Tony,

Two things to consider, and I'm basing this on experience with a couple Mitsubishi Diamana shafts.

    1. Like the kind lady responded, they'll have to order this shaft.  Cool thing that it's not an upcharge. But make sure if you order the club you specify that you want an original RIP, which is about a $200 shaft.
    2. My experience with the shafts used for many club manufacturers with the Diamana's was a little upsetting. After I was given one and bought a pullout, I was going to use them in a driver and needed to repair the paint from the bore thru tip prepping area. The coloring of the shaft is the same as the Blueboards.  But the shafts have 65S and 65R respectively on them. The shafts are marked as Mitusubishi Diamana, with "made for xxxx" on the shaft. The one I bought was advertised as a Blueboard. I thought I was getting a deal!   I looked at my resourses for shafts and saw they were being sold only as 63, 73, 83 & 93 (gram weights) from $275-$300. I then contacted Mitsubishi and asked what the 65's were comparible to in the Diamana line. The response was a little disheartening. The Diamana Blueboards are only available in 63, 73, 83 & 93. The reponse from the Mitsubisi tech was that the shafts used in these clubs was closer to a Mitsubishi Javaln 6 series, an $80  $125 shaft. Later I went to a golf store, saw a couple different brands of drivers that had the same shafts in them, both  marked as 65's and  "made for xxxx". Now knowing these weren't Blueboards, I asked the salesman if he was selling the clubs as having Blueboards in them and he told me they were. The clubs were certainly priced to have a Blueboard, but the buyer wasn't getting what he was after. Guess that's why I was given one.

Just make sure you're getting exactly what you want, or find the club, buy the shaft and have it installed.
