I am going to be treating myself to new SM10 wedges this winter to be ready for next season. I really like the look of the jet black finish. I am concerned however about the finish and how it will look after a few months of play, let alone in a year or two. Has anyone had a similar concern? I am very anal about my clubs and clean after every round because I want and expect my clubs to look mint each year. Thanks everyone.

  2. From what I've been told, the black finish on ANY club is always subject to look rough soon after purchase. I've had black finish clubs in the past but not for long. More of a traditionalist. But I've been told the biggest problem with the Black Finish is that they look worn so quickly that it turns some off.

Now, keep in mind. I don't care if it turns Pink... As long as the performance stays the same what do I care? k But many are all about the looks it seems so... Fair to say you might want to conider that.

Just my $.02, I've always been a fan of the off finishes like a nickle or something like that. Not as shiny as the standard wedges but maintains it's appearance over the long haul and I do like that. Not that I give other OEM's much hype, but I do have to say some of the other club manufacturers have figured this out and done a great job of making clubs that maintain their "look", which like I said is important to some.

  3. The Jet Black will wear, the more it is used, the more the finish will come off and reveal the bare metal beneath. Sandy conditions can make it wear faster.
  4. I can only speak for the Nickel finish, it's a beautiful looking club head. However, the first sand shot I hit with my 60 degree, was a bit off the toe and those misses leave memories on the club face that are much more noticeable than the chrome or the raw wedges. I have had them since May, they still look sharp, but there is the sign of gradual wear, more of a dulling of the finish at this point.

    Cheers,

    Chris
  5. Black finishes wil wear, some quicker than others. But so will chrome and any other finishes. Wedges wear more quickly than others clubs because of how and how often they are used. Wedges are the clubs we need, as opposed to want, to replace most often.
  6. I had the same concerns, just picked up a set of jet black sm10's. I don't really mind the wear, I think of it more as petina lol.
