  1. We all dream about getting our first Hole in One and although some of us are still chasing one, I scored my first one on the last day of 2024 to close out an awesome year of golf with a bang!

I was running low on fresh ProV1x’s as we were on vacation so I grabbed a new sleeve of #3’s in the prison before we headed out. It was a beautiful day and the 2nd time I’ve played this particular course. The front 9 was playing pretty slow with a few sluggish foursomes in front of us. My twosome joined up with another pair and got to enjoying the round and the weather.

My buddy swears by the BLT’s in the clubhouse so we jammed on a couple of those before we made the turn. While we had a good round the pace of play was taking its toll but it picked up thankfully on the back 9. I.joked with my buddy about not having any birdies yet and since we go to a southern Baptist church I joked that I should “name it and claim it…” so that’s just what I did. I told him I was going to birdie 12 and after missing an eagle by inches, settled for the bird. We rolled up to 13 and nobody was stepping up so I joked “well looks like I’m up first” and made my way to the tee box. The guy were joking about how they hate the water on 2 sides of the hole and how they never have a good shot there. As I was standing over my ball I thought to myself hmm I should name and claim a Hole in One but I didn’t want to make a fool of myself when it didn’t happen so I didn’t.

The wind was whipping pretty hard directly at us and the greet is fairly sloped back towards the hole and the water in front of it. When I struck my ProV1x I could tell right away it was a solid shot and on target for the green. One of the guys we had joined up with worked at the club and remarked it would go in. I laughed it off and then the other fellow also remarked it was looking good. At that point the ball struck the green about 10-15’ directly past the pin, and as I watched it spin and roll back I thought no way is it going to happen. One guy yelled it’s gonna drop and sure enough it rolled straight back and dropped clean into the cup!

High fives and some yelling congratulations from the surrounding holes ensued and a lady carted up with shots for us. After some photos we continued our round and after a few more birdies we finished up the round.

My Titleist ProV1x with some grass from lucky #13 green still on it, now rests in a case on my shelf. I’m hoping to find a Titleist branded case to keep it in next to the flag, newspaper clippings and a few photos from the occasion.

Here’s to hopefully more to come with excellent Titleist products!
