I've been playing golf for about 63 years and for the last four, I've switched to all hickory shafted clubs. They range from 1919 to 1929. On 20 March I was playing the Red course at Lambert Acres in Maryville TN. Number 5 is a downhill par 3, about 143 to center. I hit a smooth MacGregor Go Sum mashie iron (not to be confused with a mashie). Played a small draw and it landed softly about 6 feet from the flag then rolled straight in the hole.
I switched to the Titleist Tour Soft this past fall. I generally go for a softer ball in cold weather because it is easier on the persimmon heads. In warmer weather I'll be back to my AVX. Been a Titleist guy for over 50 years and I love how they perform!
