I'd been playing golf for 57 years and I am now almost 77. I've had lots of near misses, but never had one. I've had 10 holes in one by members of groups I've played in. But, never one of my own. In fact, my friends (all of whom have had aces) kiddingly were rooting for my wife to get one before I did. It had gotten to the point I didn't even get excited when I'd hit one directly at the flag. This one was, obviously, totally unexpected. One of my playing partners looked in the cup and said, "Well, there's a ball in the hole." I felt like a great weight had been lifted from my shoulders.
