    Drive For Show, a popular phrase in the golf world however on tour it is important to victories. For the longest time, competitors competed for the top spot on tour to have the most drivers in play for PGA Tour events. Now it appears there is a new sheriff in town.

    For the 11th event out of 13 on the PGA Tour, Titleist has been the top driver of more players than any other on tour. Last week at the Valspar, there were 40 Titleist Drivers in play which is six more than the nearest competitor! The Titleist TS3 was the most played individual model during the stretch with 306 nearly 100 more than the next closest model, Who Knew?!

    Is the TS2/3 that much more improved than the 917? Asking simply because I haven’t had the chance to swing the TS and I just bought my 917 last season. The 917 is the first Titleist driver I’ve enjoyed since my 905. Is the upgrade worth it when striping the 917? Not meaning to start a debate - literally just wondering if I should give this year’s TS serious thought.

    An opportunity like a Titleist Thursday can help you with that decision. If after the fitting the distance and dispersion will or won't alter your game to help you decide. In my case, the distance gain will give me more opportunities to not have to pitch onto par 4s at 400 yards for a GIR+1. My range has now moved from 380 to 400 yards for par 4s and I can use short irons on par 5s.

    I like my 917 D2 so I'm not ready to step up to the TS model yet even if some extra yards are a given.. The 917 D2 hits right where I'm looking.

    Love the phrase. Anyone considering moving up in your equipment???? The fitter should ask you to bring in your old equipment so you can do a comparison. Mine always do when I am considering an upgrade. I have two, one for inside fittings and one for on range fittings. One is an independent Titleist certified fitter and retailer with over 30 years experience and the other is a Titleist product specialist with other 25 years experience and are the very best in our area and are in high demand.

    Not to mention for years Titleist seems to be the younger pro choice before big sponsorship deals come calling.

    The TS2 head is solid, but not too hard, such as the Cobra F9 feels.
    The Hzrdus stock shaft keeps the spin rate lower on my bad swings.

    I agree with the theory that "Drive for Show" is bogus. How about Drive for Dough and Putt for MOE! (for more)

    While I've had great rounds when my driving is off, it is a ton easier when I am long AND in the fairway. Its like the difference between a 4 foot putt and a 30 foot putt. Yes, you can do it, but your chances are higher with the shorter putt.

    Between turning 70 and having had hand and shoulder surgery in the past couple years, I honestly don't feel any driver I have is going to give me significantly more distance. What I'm much more interested in these days since I started to play again a few months ago is accuracy, coupled with a desire for good feel.

    Regardless of efforts to hit 4 other drivers I have or got to try, my old 910 D2 still works better than anything and it's a great benefit that it feels as good as it looks. Sooner or later, I'll try one of the TS drivers, but for now, I'm thrilled with my results using this older club.

    No disrespect to prior models, but the TS is the real deal. I upgraded from 910 to 913 and couldn't find anything that beat my 913 until the TS came around. I tried 915, 917, and even a couple of competitors drivers, but didn't see much improvement on the distance/workability/accuracy of the 913.
    When I went to the Titleist Thursday last year, the first ball I hit with the TS2 flew where my 913 came to rest, AND I was able to work the ball with a tighter depression pattern.
