Some of our TT members got a taste of our wonderful Ocean Course at Kiawah Island during the 2018 TT Invitational. What a beautiful course along the Atlantic Ocean that, believe it or not has only one bunker and it is on #17. I have played this course many times due to volunteering for all the PGA events that came to the course and having a friend who was the course superintendent. One of my favorites. I was there on hole number ten, lead hole captain, as Rory destroyed the course in the 2012 PGA Championships. Well it is coming back, May 17 – 23, 2021 The Ocean Course at Kiawah Island Golf Resort. Tickets sales are good and they have worked a better parking plan than in 2012. Come visit the #1 Tourist Destination and the #1 Small Town in America, Charleston and watch the PGA in 2021. My current plans are to be there all week, but not as a volunteer for the first time, where I began working as a volunteer at the 1991 Ryder Cup as a marshal on hole number 10. I will be there working most likely in the merchandise tent representing the number one shoe on tour. Y'all come on down! Enjoy the beauty of Charleston and the lowcountry, have some great local seafood, and watch a great tournament. Cheers.......... ;=)

Yep CZ, it was a great place for the TTI and I even picked up a PGA tee shirt in case I didn’t get back before the tournament. With the PGA there and the US Open at my place (Torrey) it should be a good year for the majors.

I was there in 2012, and I am looking forward to going there in 2021. It is definitely in my top three golf courses in the world.

East Coast, West Coast....love the shirt.....my best score on that course 77....one of my better days....June 13, 1997....have that card on one of those plaques, The I Played The Ocean Course....had to frame it....let me know if you decide to come....the week of the tournament, I will be busy as heck......long days...it is a 45 minute drive from my house in Mount Pleasant to the course......hope to ride with my boss, he lives over here also, he will have a vendor pass.....
  5. Chuck: I've booked a week on Kiawah (through the resort), the first week of April after spending March on HHI.

The Ocean Course is my first round, how would you choose among the remaining courses? That is, which of this group would you play if only two? Osprey, Oak, Turtle, and Cougar.

Also which might have the best practice facilities? Thanks for your input.

Turtle and Osprey......hands down.....have played all of them.....The Ocean has the best practice facilities....and the view of the Ocean is awesome.......if you are a member or a private club, I would have your call The River Club or Cassique on Kiawah which are private clubs to see if you can get on them. They are the two others I would highly recommend playing.

    1. The Ocean Course
    2. Turtle Point
    3. Osprey Point
    4. Cougar Point
    5. Oak Point (off the resort)

Might even consider one of the courses at Seabrook Island, Ocean Winds or Crooked Oaks. Check with their pro shop. Ocean Winds a tough trek along part of the ocean. When the winds are blowing, more than you can handle. Enjoy the stay...lots to see and do on Johns Island....the local seafood is wonderful.....try the Stono Market and Tomato Shed Cafe on main road, which the the road that leads to the road to the entrance to the resort.....sound country and the food is great....they practice safe distancing and you might have to wait to get in.....very popular with the locals and tourists also.....Cheers, Chuck.... welcome to the lowcountry.....

Meant to say have your Director of Golf or head pro call The River Course (Tom Fazio creation) or Cassique (Tom Watson creation and the most private community on the island) .......both are beautiful courses, with Cassique rated number two behind the Ocean Course and the River Course number three.........
  8. Thank you!! Might have to extend the one week visit to two weeks!

The Masters is the first full week in March and the RBC Heritage is in Hilton Head the second week of March. Will be in HH the first part of that week at the Pro/Ams, Sun/Mon/Tues.......busy time down......The PGA Championships will be in Charleston in May.....another reason to come back......sure the courses on Kiawah will be booked solid.....know you will have a great time......if the wind is blowing out with you, play the blues, against you, play the whites.....then you will enjoy the Ocean Course......that is the way you play the nines.....
  10. Hi Chuck:

If the fates allow, I would love to make it down to one of my favorite places. When my dear departed parents lived on Seabrook I got to play both of those courses. Shot 78 on Ocean Winds the first time on it and still consider it one of the best rounds I ever played. You are spot on about the wind, a mis-hit can seemingly end up behind you.

Have played both of those courses and when the winds come up you have to swing low and slow or in control....... Had one of my better rounds a number of years ago at the Ocean Course, before they changed it. 77 from the blues. Have the card on my plaque, "The Day I Played The Ocean Course". Signed and bonafide......6/13/97...one of the most beautiful areas in SC......love the piebald deer that roam down there in the early morning and late afternoon. So beautiful.....if anyone is there for the tournament look for me in the tent, I will be in the FJ area.....
