The fourth and final major has arrived, and #TeamTitleist is on the hunt to hoist the Claret Jug come Sunday. But with windy conditions, undulated greens and firm, fast fairways, our team has been working hard to make sure they have the proper setup to take on the difficult test that Royal St George’s will present.
Take a look inside their bags to get a full look at their full setups, a mix of trusted gamers and some new additions specifically suited for links golf.
Jordan Spieth
Fast fact: Over the last six years at The Open Championship, Jordan Spieth (2017 Champion) not only holds the best scoring average of any player (69.6), but also has holed the most one-putts (145) and has carded the most rounds in the 60s (12).
It’s safe to say his record is strong across the pond!
But before heading over to this year’s Open Championship, he made an important packing decision – adding a new set of T100 irons to his bag.
Jordan got his first look and strikes with the final prototypes this past May, going through a fitting alongside Titleist Director of Player Promotions J.J. Van Weezenbeeck.
“When we first introduced the new T100’s to Jordan in Dallas, he commented immediately on the look and feel, how well they went through the turf, and how consistently they were flying,” Van Weezenbeeck said. “Talking with him last week, as he was working through the set, he said his ball speeds were extremely consistent, and he was really happy from a visual standpoint.”
Jordan has also put in a new T200 2-iron this week at Royal St George's.
Justin Thomas
Also testing a new T200 long iron this week was Justin Thomas, who worked with Titleist European Tour Rep Liam McDougall in moving to a new T200 2-iron, noting that he prefers the lower offset, look and feel.
He also has his trusted Pro V1x, new TSi2 Driver and more in the bag this week at Royal St George's. We caught up with Justin recently to hear his thoughts on why he plays his all-Titleist setup.
Adam Scott
Adam Scott also made a couple of notable changes to his setup for the week following a recent trip to the new Titleist Performance Centre at Woburn in England. Working with Liam, he added two new T100 3-irons to the bag this week - one built at a 2-iron loft and length, and the other at a standard 3-iron setup. He’s also moved back into a TSi4 driver.
Ian Poulter
Coming off a final-round 63 at last week’s Scottish Open, Ian Poulter’s game is primed for the links golf that will take place this week in Sandwich. Get the full look at Ian’s setup below, including a look at his Pro V1x, TSi3, T100 irons, and more.
Aaron Dill, Titleist Tour rep for Vokey Wedges, also whipped up a little something to celebrate Ian’s UK heritage.
