    On Saturday, Jon Rahm unloaded on the Stadium Course during the round which was caught on microphone. Although he's certainly not the 1st to do so in the past 35 years that this course has been in operation, let me just say this. This facility has been on the PGA Tour since before Jon Rahm was born, when it hosted the Bob Hope Desert Classic, The Skins Game, and the final stage of Q-School when you had to play 96 holes on the Stadium Course to qualify for the PGA Tour. When Pete Dye was selected to design the Stadium Course, the PGA of America told Dye to make "The hardest damn golf course in the world" and he complied. I guess some players are not happy unless you can hit it into the parking lot and make birdie. If you don't like a particular golf course, don't curse it out on tv, just skip it that week and hit the beach.

    He has an established record of acting like an entitled, spoiled 12 year old. Very short fuse and an ill temper. Others on tour have their moment as well, but, he seems unable to control his temper. Not a fan and would like to see him grow up.

    I believe he blasted the way it was "set up" more than the the course and he was on the Nicklaus course that day so it wasn't even the Pete Dye Stadium Course that got him stirred up. He has gotten better at keeping his temper in check but this crazy game gets us all fired up from time to time. Living nearby, I have had a few opportunities to play the Stadium Course in the summer and it always gets the best of me. If you haven't had a chance to play it, add it to your list next time you get to the west coast. Take care.

    Dale, I must respectfully correct you. On Saturday's round, the day I'm referring to, Rahm played the Pete Dye Stadium Course. You can look it up. He was caught on a "Hot Mike" walking from green to tee calling the course " An F------ piece of S---". Of course, he toned it down during the post round interview. These guys are all big boys and professionals and know what they're up against on a particular course before they fill out the entry form each week. The course wasn't any easier for Hudson Swafford. Respectfully submitted.

    I did look it up and the video shows houses which exist on the 18th at the Nicklaus course. Both Golf and Golfweek confirm the facts. The quote also shows "piece of s*$t f*@*ing setup" and "putting contest" in his comments. It was captured on someone's cellphone and posted on Twitter later that day. No one would have known about it until Saturday or Sunday to question him about it. Not a big deal and I did not bring this up to be argumentative, only to point out that his gripe was the set up did not place enough value on good iron play. He needs to remember that this tournament is 3 days of pro-am golf so the courses have to be playable for those amateurs or they will not want to play. Agree with your point that these guys are human and need to let off steam but need to be careful they don't bite the hand that feeds them. Thanks again Frank, for that most important point which you articulated well in your last sentence, "If you don't like a particular golf course, don't curse it out on tv, just skip it that week and hit the beach."

    A number of years ago while at my professional educational conference in Palm Springs I was able able to play PGA West Jack Nicklaus Tournament Course. Was the only course I could get a tee time on short notice the last day we were there. Drove down to La Jolla the next day and played Torrey Pines. My wife has relatives in San Diego, who we visited as well as the San Diego Zoo. My wife has a large family and it seems wherever we go she has family. She has 50 first cousins. I really enjoy playing golf in California.

    Stadium Course is fun one time to say that you played it.
    I would much rather play the Nicklaus Tournament Course before the Stadium.
    Also throw in a round at the Mountain Course right before Sunset....Pure Fire!!!
    I give Rahm a pass...he has fire...grit & passion. Things like that happen in sports.

    On any given day, when any golfer has a bad day those four letter words seem to fly out of our mouths flawlessly. I have my temper under better control than I use to. It is well known that those Spaniard golfers posses a special passion for the game of golf that has been exhibited over the years, i.e. Sergio, Seve... Is it better to keep it in or let it out? A lot of golfers do express their opinions on the tour and some have been fined for their opinions and outburst. When you play in a pressure cooker the steam is eventually released when it reaches a point. Thank the media.

    So Rahm has an opinion of the course, and someone caught him on a "hot mike" expressing his opinion. And now whoever posted it thinks there a hero for catching it. Are they a hero for posting his opinion, or for getting people worked up over his opinion? Who cares!!! I think every sportsperson has used the term at some time to describe everything from their clubs, the team, the ball, the course, the stadium, their shoes, the fans, the refs, the rules, etc.
    We're all entitled to our own opinions and thought, and if we're going to put a "hot mike" on everyone, there's always going to be some nut-bag getting worked up over somebodies opinion or thoughts, and we're never going to have time to just play golf.

    Dale, I don't want to beat this to death, but if you go to pgatour.com, go to the schedule, click on the American Express tournament, then click on leaderboard , then click on Jon Rahm, then click on full scorecard, you will see that round 3 which is the round in question was played on the Pete Dye Stadium Course. Respectfully submitted.

    Yes, he played round 3 on the Stadium course wearing a black shirt and hat. Wore a red shirt on Sunday. Wore a grey hat and white/grey shirt on Friday and that's what shows up in the spectator's video. Nuff said. Golf Channel has been talking about this all week and the fact that his point was the courses were too easy, not too hard.

    I love the Stadium Course, was gonna break 90 the last time until the 16th after two good shots, had a short 60 yard shot to green and totally blew it and blew up on 17 and 18 too, wasn’t too happy lol, but still love the course. it is tough for sure.

    Agree with the Doc, not a big deal.... I say worse (not too loud) than that on the course! Besides, those mics can pick up a mosquito burping from 100 yards away! Not like he spit in the cup or hit a tee marker and almost hitting a patron!!!

    Hey Deno, Anytime you're in Florida, post it and we'll get together for some golf at my club, the PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie. 3 great golf courses. Unfortunately, I don't get up North much anymore.

    As some have said already, the Stadium Course is a "fun" one to play at least once. There are unique features that make it an obvious Dye course and if you're one who enjoys his (and Alice's) designs, it's a must play.

    PGA West is a great place to play! lots of variety. If you think you are playing well, play the Stadium course & it show you where your game is at. It makes your think.

    After much deliberation, it is ok to be a bit fired up, however, if I were Jon, I would skip a golf course that does not suit my game. He needs to be careful to not let the FedEx points and the numero 1 be his priorities. His priorities should be majors.
