Hey Team Titleist -
As summer comes to an end (sadly!), we want to know: How will your practice on and off the golf course change from summer to fall?
We look forward to hearing your answers!
Best,
Abby

Abby,
Hold off on that end of summer. We still have a few months of awesome playing weather here in Oklahoma. lol
Fitness will be my number one priority this "offseason". Have a personal trainer set up to keep me on track.

Increasing my flexibility will be my main focus for the winter along with retaining golf specific muscle memory. I usually hit balls in the simulator at my course once a week and try to get in 50 full practice swings both right and left handed each day. As always a few trips to warmer locales are in the plans.

I try to go south a often as possible so that I can keep playing year round.

Hi Abby, Here at the Jersey Shore September and October are our locals best time for golf. All of the shoobies have gone home and leave this great place to oueselves. Its also one of the busiest times of the year for those of us who work at a golf course. Time to put everything back together. Seeding, leaves, tree work etc... All in all, the next two months will be great! Great question by the way.
Play Well,

On the course - luckily we can play golf year round, and the only thing that will change for practice will be the conditions. Just work on fundamentals and solid contact.
Off the course - maintain flexibility. My two little ones help me constantly stay busy with playing in the yard or indoors building castles. As amusing as it is, I may not practice much at home, but I continually work on staying loose.

About the only change I will make between Summer and Fall practice and playing will be to wear some additional layers of clothes as it gets cooler in the fall. Once winter arrives, then it's into the gym for my winter conditioning with limited outside practice and play depending on the weather (temps, wind, snow). I'm also lucky enough to be heading to Orlando and Marco Island during Feb, so that will certainly help with knocking off the rust before spring.

Fall golf is the best part of the year! Gonna keep on rolling until that white stuff starts falling...
Off season: I will continue to work out and work on my flexibility.. Had lessons earlier this year and one of the things I've been working on is correcting my posture. I truly believe it has helped my game a little this year so i will continue to work on that.. From time to time, i'll go in the garage and swing and swing and swing and last but not least I'll putt around with my boys in the living room to keep my short game sharp...
But i sure hope the Farmer's Almanac is wrong about their 2015-2016 winter prediction....

I agree with Tim that the golf season is not over quite yet! I still have a couple of tournaments on the books over the next couple of months. The good thing here in Texas is that we can play (and practice) all year long so golf is not as much of a seasonal sport but rather a round the year enjoyment!
The practice this year has been almost non-existent. I had plans to work on my game this simmer and focus on a couple of key areas, but the only thing I really did was go get out on the course and play. Work has been pretty crazy so I only had time to get on the course for my regular Friday and Saturday games and for various tournaments. I only made it to the range a couple of times (versus a couple of times a week) this summer to practice. As we get into the fall, I hope to spend more time working on my game and working to dial it in further and maybe accomplish some of the goals I set out at the beginning of the year.

Easy question Abby. Head south, drive fast, and get away from Ohio. Once in Alabama play 36 a day M-F and 18 on Saturday. Departure date is 9/26.

Definitely doing more putting on my putting mat as the weather gets colder.

I like to use the winter to read through a few golf instruction books (hogans 5 lessons, short game bible, putting prescription, zen golf, and a few audio books by bob rotella). I also use the winter to work a bit harder on my fitness (primarily strength since I don't like to be sore during golf season). I also have a putting mat and high enough ceilings to work on my full swing (usually doing slo-mo drills and muscle memory type of exercises). Any days during the winter that are warm enough to get outside, I'll go to the range.

Sometimes for me taking some time off helps me. This winter and fall, I am going to take some time away from golf to help my mind and body by going to the gym and hanging out with friends. As crazy as it sounds, this can be almost more beneficial to my game than pounding hundreds of balls on the range.

This was great year for me. An elbow muscle tear sidelined me for a couple of weeks, but it allowed me alot of short game practice. This helped me lower my index from a 6.5 to a 3.7 - my lowest ever four handicap. It taught me to spend some time each week at the short game area at my club. I will play as much fall golf as I can here in Buffalo usually until about Nov, 1. Then I coach high school hockey. I will start hitting balls again in March and try and be ready when the course open in April.

I'll work of fitness. I'm signing up with a TPI certified instructor to make sure my body can do what I'm trying to do with my swing. Currently my legs are not as strong as in years past, time to work and get back my strength. Also going to focus on flexibility... this will be good for me and my health in general.

Luckily, here in Georgia, even when it gets cold in winter golf is still playable, no matter how uncomfortable it is.

Here in South Carolina, the fall is still wonderful weather for the most part and good golf weather until end of November and beginning of December. I will continue to play and practice until the weather is too cold to enjoy it. When it gets cold I will make my wife furious by swinging my club inside, putting, and chipping. I will then put the clubs up at that point and hope for spring.

Living in southern Australia has it's advantages,
The weather is mostly kind and we can get a round in most weeks 12 months of the year. Live on small farm also help, i try to hit ball with my son Tommy once or twice a week to keep my bad short game as good as it gets.
We are now coming into summer, so i feel for all who have the bad weather to content with on the other side of the globe.
Cheers Steve
