Let's just start with the beauty,  the backdrop of the fall leaves.  less crowded courses keep pace of play where is should be.  On course practice.  I love my range but its nice to hit to a fairway, green.  When nobody is around I like to hit shots that I wouldn't normally be able to .  Maybe a long iron that might usually be a wedge on a particular hole.  Fairway bunkers, pitches, chips, putts etc.    All of the shots I can't practice off the course.   I usually savor my fall rounds more because I know my season is coming to an end and it's a very long winter waiting for the spring thaw.

2014 has been an amazing year of playing golf for me.  I thought I played a lot in years prior but this year has been a record!  This golf season was off to a sprint of a start and I never really let off the gas pedal thus have developed an acute case of tennis elbow inflammation on both elbows. However, this is not going to stop me as the season is not over!  I love golf in the Spring and Summer as everything is fast and so green! Fall golf is when all the colors just pop and the challenge becomes ever more difficult to play or shoot a career round.

The one thing that has really hit me with Fall golf is the opportunity to play a course that was once in disrepair, neglect, and even notoriously gained the reputation of worst golf course ever.  I am talking about Ponkapoag Golf Course - Course #1, which was just recently reopened after extensive revitalization.  Playing this course made me feel like I was not even playing that course. It felt like I was elsewhere.  The scenery seemed perfect with all the trees and their leaves shinning their bright oranges, reds, and yellows.  The fairways and greens were as pristine as I have ever seen.

I think Fall golf is about that excitement of playing in fair weather with the backdrop of amazing scenery that takes you away from your personal reality - maybe even for a split second or even coming into or out of consciousness for those few hours.  What is also great about Fall golf is that Fall golf leads us into Winter golf and that means Titleist gifts and awesome Holiday commercials!  So, how about we get a Fall golf season commerical just like that Holiday one?

Best wishes to all for wonderful golf and an amazing Holiday Season!

Enjoy some great cooler weather. The leaves are starting to change, Courses aren't crowded as others put their clubs away to get ready for other fall outdoor activities, so you don't feel pushed. Easier to get tee times.

  4. Fall golf is great for me because it's the rounds that you can compare to the rounds from spring. You can see how much you improved from the long days working hard at the range. This spring my handicap was about a 17. Now this fall it is a 9. I love looking at my tournament notes from spring, and compare them to the ones I am making for upcoming tournaments. My goals were to try to make pars. Now I am determined to trying to make a birdie every hole in a safe way. If that isn't possible I can settle for a par. So now with the cold, windy weather in central Ohio, I love golf more than I ever do any other time of the year. That's why I love fall golf.

I always enjoy September and October golf.  Courses get less play, in Ohio the greens get a little softer, and usually I am playing my best golf of the year in the fall.  Once the leaves come down its usually a sign that there will be more windy days and we get a fresh challenge of playing the winds a little more often.  This is also a good time to make a list of all of the equipment that needs replaced or changed.

During the PGA Championship this year my Grandson's were visiting and they were fascinated with the players and caddies spending time reading greens.  Now that school has started and their weekly golf lessons are over, they look forward to a game with Grandpa on weekends.  In September we headed out to the course and they were quite a hoot trying to figure how the ball would roll.  So fall gets kinda special for the three of us, kid's getting away for golf, and me getting some quality time with my boy's.

Rick, first off I live in Florida and the summers are mostly brutal. So for me I like fall play the most because when you are finished it doesn't feel like you ran a marathon. It's nice to sit with friends afterward and not be soaked in sweat. Sorry to be gross but that's the way it is. Dave...

The color of the leaves, how green everything is, less crowded on the course and the green fees are cheaper :)

What I love about golf in the fall is coaching the high school golf team!  Ive been doing it for the last 6 falls and it really has become the thing i look forward to the most each fall!  Practice time, range time and teaching the younger players the joys and experiences of this great game is something I take great pride in!  It has been so enjoyable and I can't tell you how inspiring it is for my own game.  Our team was able to in the Class A District Championship for the 3rd year in a row this fall!  Seeing kids be succesful on the golf course can only lead to great things for the game!

What I enjoy most about fall golf is the changing of the seasons with the leaves turning wonderful shades of red, orange and yellow. The ever changing conditions are also a good test for you game. While the change from summer to fall means an end to the local golf season, I find it is nice to sit back and reflect on what a wonderful year of golf it has been. From mapping out a plan to lower my handicap last fall and seeing that come true, to the buddies trip I took out to Bandon Dunes (I would highly recommend it) and finally to all the fun and camaraderie that I had throughout the various rounds with varying playing partners. Here's to a great 2015 golf season and looking forward to 2016.

Hey Rick V, I have to answere that question in two ways. I'm a super at a county owned course in southern N.J. That part of me dreads the fall. Sometimes on a tractor blowing leaves all day. Frost delays. Time changes, so no time to get 9 in after work. The player part is 180 degrees different. The colors that just blow you away. Tee times any time. Free golf for our enlisted men and women and vets on Nov. 11th. I guess it all evens out. Playing golf with a Pro V and a Titleist club in your hand is all that really matters. Summer, Winter, Spring and Fall TT members I'm sure love it all. I do.

    Play Well,

    SteveS.

Well, living in FL for the past 5 years the meaning of fall golf has changed dramatically from my previous 57 years in the NY Metro area. Anyhow, for me It's getting away from playing in constant 90- 95 deg. heat to 75 to 85 and lower humidity. Also my snowbird buddies are back down to the club and the course is in much better shape now with the summer heat stress on the grass gone. The constant heat and daily summer rains lends itself to disease on Bermuda and other warm weather grasses if the Greens Super is not on it.

Well, the weather is usually dry, the air a little cooler which always seems to make the shots sound crisper, the leaves falling from the trees, the different colours and the fact that courses are not as crowded make the experience of playing golf all the more pleasurable. Oh, and the anticipation of the new products which are coming up for release.

Fall golf is the beginning of the end of the season.  We get to experience the change of tree leaves right before our eyes. Most people do not want to golf when it is a little chilly, but that just opens up the course for all of us loyalist. The greens have been arigated already and are starting to come back to go shape. The clean crisp fall air is all around us. The thing I love about it is being able to find balls a lot easier and also being the only one on the course later in the day.

Nobody on the course.  You can take your time especially if you walk and play two or three balls from different lie's and different angles.  You can work on things that you have been practicing on all summer and all the hidden golf balls you find to add to the shag bag.

Fall Golf! Love the color changes, the crisp cooler air, less play so I can hit extra shots or work on a specific shot that gives me trouble.  Like you, finding those "new shag balls" . Love looking around late in the day, and realizing you don't see another golfer in sight. Also, lets me review, if I accomplished the goals I set in the spring and helps me start a list of what I want to do in the off-season to get better next year.  Down side, is the cooler it gets the closer to the end of season. So these autumn days get a little more appreciated as they get shorter.

Fall is such a beautiful time of year in the Carolinas as the leaves change and pop with color. Also, the cool, crisp air is just what the doctor ordered after the brutal late-summer heat.

And...pretty hard to top a smooth 9 or 18 holes on a Saturday morning followed by an afternoon of college football! Go Gamecocks…yes, even this year!

I love fall golf, everything about it is nice and peaceful, the cool weather, usually less busy courses, and cheaper greens fees. However, I (like many I'm sure) hate the leaves! I have spent quite a bit of time trying to find my ball among a leaf covered fairway. Comes with the fall territory I suppose.

In Ohio the Beautiful fall colors. It's the only time I appreciate trees on a golf course..Though I hate the excess leaves.causing lost balls in even some fairways.

But the open course with less golfers and far less hackers and duffers is the main reason for me.

I love the changing seasons, Fall is beautiful here in the Pacific Northwest. Temperatures are cooler, greens and fairways are softer, and I think the challenging conditions really separate the casual golfer from the passionate golfer. It's also a time when the kids go back to school and it seems like my buddies and I are able to get out a little more often. Love this game.

Golf has given me more memories than almost anything else.  I take trips with friends, I go to the driving range with my wife and kids, we play golf together.  My father taught me how to play the game.  He encouraged me when I was frustrated.  He explained to me that golf was more than putting a little white ball in a hole.  Its about being honest, doing things right even when no one is looking.  For the better part of my life my father has loved playing golf with me!  I have become much better than he ever was, and he loved to bring me to play in charity scrambles.  My father was recently diagnosed with Alzheimer's.  One of the saddest days of my life was the day he told me he couldnt play golf any longer.  I know we have a long road ahead of us, but I wont let him stop playing golf!  It means more to me now than it does to him.  Golf will continue to be one of our tightest bonds!  I play with friends, family, on vacations, late at night, whenever I have the time!  Im not going to be a pro or win anything.  I play because Golf is full of memories, past and future.  One day Ill say to my son and daughter, I cant play anymore.  Today is not that day!

There's something about fall golf that makes you feel grateful for the experience. Growing up in PA, golf in autumn months was a last gasp. Any round post-Halloween felt like a blessing... The changes going on all around you, while revealing incredible beauty, help you understand that you're playing on borrowed time. One last effort at a good round. One last opportunity to post those birdies. Yesterday was great, but tomorrow could be snow-covered. Many fall rounds turn into spiritual experiences, and rightfully so. Golf can be the ultimate spiritual game: time to open yourself up to testing and introspection.

And, of course, wearing pants without the threat of being too hot!
