  1. Hi TT,

After I got my AP2-irons earlier this year I have had an even higher desire to play well and perhaps even hit it further and shooting lower scores.

With winter coming making it more or less impossible to play here in Denmark, I looked to perhaps work on the physical aspect of the game.

I have discovered that I have a tendency to either sway or slide during the swing. And a search on the Internets shows that it could very likely be the muscles in the legs and buttocks that needs to be improved. So beside some general exercises to improve the general shape, I'll focus on that area.

But that just got me wondering, if any of you have set any goals for your physical ability, when it comes to golf.

One thing I've found that's helped me is doing my swing rotations with some sort of weight. I'm in the seed business and when we bag seed I'm constantly picking up 50lb bags and rotating from my right to my left, really working my lower ab muscles. I find that after doing that a few weeks, and going to the course, I have better swing speed, power, and accuracy, as my muscles are "trained" for that movement. I would suggest using a medicine ball or something of the like and go through the motions allowing your mid-section and lower section to strengthen.

    Hi Bo,

You should check out the TPI Program. It is specifically aimed at physical fitness & development for golf. They have a good program to assess your body, and to help develop a training program for strengthening the key areas.

I am including a link to the website below. There is a "search location" function so there may be some available in Denmark. The link I am sending you also has sample exercise library for you to look at.

It really is a good program -- well worth looking into it. I hope you find some use from the site.

Not really. Now that the weather is cooling off some I plan on resuming walking. I got an injection in my lower back this year which has helped with some of the aches and pains that go along with the aging process. My wife is the exercising fan in our family. Polities on Monday, the gym and then works out at home for a couple of hours daily. Rides her bicycle regularly for about an hour around the neighborhood. The life of a retiree. I play golf three to four times a week and work in the yard. At 70 I have rotator cuff issues, bad back and the old hamstrings act up on occasions. To many years of playing organized sports. So I just watch my wife and am glad that I can play golf the year round along the coast of S Carolina. Cheers.

Hi Bo, ...glad to be of some assistance. Perhaps you could share with us your TPI experiences - I always find it interesting! All the best!

I golf during spring, summer and fall and snow ski in the winter and both these sports keeps me agile and in fit for them.
