I was wondering if anyone could answer a few questions. A friend of a friend agreed to meet me to sell me a set of irons that were a blended set of 620CB and T100. Before I go into detail of clubs I would like to start with the seller (supposedly) being a pro at a course in my area, and was selling for someone else. With that being said I agreed to meet, and I started getting a weird feeling when asking a few questions. First I asked where they came from, and was told they were ordered from Titleist, but couldn’t be returned as they were a custom build even though were new, I get that. (at time of seeing irons in person, they were new, but hit indoors on monitor...ok, fine). Set was made up of 4-PW made up of 4 T100’s, and 3 620CB’s. So what I thought was odd, and this is what I would like any insight or thoughts....on these irons I saw multiple different serial numbers. This is what I wanted to know if it’s possible a custom built blended set would have multiple serial numbers? (no build sheet or box) Also I’ve never had any of my well taken care of Titleist irons show rust around serial number on one of the irons, is this normal?

I walked away from transaction slightly disappointed, but should have listened to my gut; when it seems to good to be true, most likely it is. Also I would like to add, in theory those two irons would make a nice set, but anyone who is a little OCD will have a hard time looking at a set of irons that half are satin and half are chrome. Just wasn’t aesthetically pleasing to me. Thanks for any answers in regards to serial numbers.

I think you did right. Sounds like they may have been counterfeit to me. Direct from the land of corona virus and make it to fake it. Something definitely wasn't right.

I believe if something different is done to a club it gets a serial number. When I order my set usually one club is modified from the normal and it has a serial number on it as well as the six iron. Probably better you didn't if you weren't 100% sold on them.
